It was nice while it lasted...
Well, I really hope you guys enjoy this page, 'cos I had to do the thing TWICE. We had some friends coming up for the 4th, so I was trying to get as many pages as I could done over the weekend. Aaaaand I kind of accidentally saved over this one after completely finishing it the first time through. I was... annoyed.

Speaking of annoyed, I noticed something kind of embarrassing while looking over the earlier pages of this little arc (something I should do more often, for reason which shall soon be revealed): Jenna's hair has been getting progressively shorter since we first met her. Seriously, hop back to her first appearance on page 310 and compare it to now. She's lost at least an inch or two. I guess we COULD say that Megaweapon's been on a hair-pulling frenzy for the past day or so, and that's what happened... but that would imply that I meant to do it in the first place.

Something I DID mean to do was TODAY'S NEW VOTING INCENTIVE! Go vote and enjoy!

I probably shouldn't mention this... But since Avatar doesn't actually need to breathe, why is she panting? (Or is it that she just has a literal atmosphere?)
I guess you could say that talking uses air, and panting is just a reflex she still has, but then we know that Avatar has advanced beyond the pitiful requirement of mortals requiring air to speak. :P

Also, Trigger still seems to be an optimist. Go Trigger!

And I like how Jenna just assumes the problem is Megaweapon :P

You know, I actually wrestled with that myself. Since it has been well established that Avatar doesn't need air, she really SHOULDN'T be out of breath after anything. But the page just felt... wrong without it. There needed to be that beat before Trigger said anything, and having her just stand there felt awkward. Thus, Rule of Funny is in effect.

(We could say that she still needs to inhale and exhale air to produce sounds... but then we already saw her speaking in a vacuum, which shouldn't be possible under ANY circumstances. She's a mystery, that Avatar)

Considering that Avatar's modifications were designed and implemented by a group of Mad Scientists, I would expect an assortment of random discrepancies. Like not needing air to breathe or even to talk, but still having the reflex to pant. They just don't bother to keep track of the details.

As for Jenna assuming the problem is Megaweapon: I think if I had one reasonably good piece of evidence that a problem had nothing to do with Megaweapon, that would change my assessment from "gotta be him" to "still probably him". He's just so good at being bad.

Wild speculation!!!
The disaster that the mad scientists saw coming which led them to create Avatar, if it happens, will be caused by Megaweapon.

Considering that these are the same people who made her incapable of growing up, them gave her a robe with room to grow into, I'd say that's a perfectly reasonable explanation. :D
