I'd like to see Layla and Avatar in an annoyed reaction duel. We'd all win.

It probably won't surprise you to know that I had NO idea what the S.A.N.D. was actually going to be until right before I sat down to write this page. I mean, I knew it'd be something utterly mundane that you'd never expect from the appearance, but WHAT that mundane thing would actually be seemed so inconsequential that I completely forgot to think of it. Somehow, I don't think Dr. Jarre would have a problem with that process.

Speaking of process, this page was a BEAST to finish. In a massage failure at sequential art, I originally drew this page as just the three big panels, no Avatar close up. It didn't dawn on me how badly that extra beat was needed until AFTER I'd already inked and scanned the three panel version. By grace of God and poor layout, there was enough empty room for me to paste in an extra little panel, but it was still pretty tricky. So, if that panel looks a little wedged in, you have NO idea... (I SHOULD have made that panel all jagged and rough to stand out against the other, round panels. Poo.)

But moving on, extra stuff! As always, there's a fresh Voting Incentive waiting for you on TWC, but there's ALSO a special Halloween update coming Monday! So be sure to check in early for that!

I like blue swirly things too!

You know, Avatar gets so much stuff piled on her I'm surprised she hasn't snapped earlier and more often. Although she's probably used to it more than we could be.
I'd probably be scared if I was in Dr. Jarre's position.

I still want one of those blue swirly things (aka S.A.N.D.)
They look awesome.

The incentive... I don't think I have anything to say. That doesn't happen often.

I think we can all agree here that blue swirly things are awesome.
Sorry avatar, the jury has decided.

But anyway, just curious, do you have to do any "rendering" with your pictures? I've been learning how to do it, and it's pretty darn frustrating... :D *annoyed smile

See, now here I thought we were gonna get another sky-sized wall-of-text about SAND. "A popcorn maker" is perhaps the best bait-n-switch in this series so far.

Blitzkrieg1701, October 28th, 2011, 12:47 pm

@Stefan: ...YEAH! That's exactly what it is! A deliberate, pre-plannded fake out! It's not just me awkwardly bailing out of a sub-plot that I thoughtlessly introduced for the sake of a few silly jokes! Why, I would NEVER be that sloppy! HAHAHAHAHAAA!!!

@CarrotSticks: Naw, I'm pretty dang primitive with my art-ing. The most complicated thing I ever do is putting some blur filters on after the shading's finished.

@Seros Senric: Well, it HAS been a rather taxing day for her. A taxing SEVERAL days, actually. It's easy to forget how little time has passed since the mad science convention, isn't it?

And speaking of which, Dr. Jarre's got the odds stacked against her as it is. Avatar would probably have a lot more patience for somebody who WASN'T a mad scientist (Tabitha being the exception, obviously)

Seros Senric (Guest), October 29th, 2011, 6:13 am

Yeah, Tabitha was nice. She gave Avatar hugs.
And hugs are almost as awesome as blue swirly things.

then avatar snaps
