You know, it's going to be hard to take much pleasure out of Megaweapin's much-deserved comeuppance if he's going to insist on being so cute and hugable when he's scared. Then again, that might be how he's been able to get away with this stuff for so long.

So, part of me worried if this page might be unnecessary. When dealing with an audience not well-versed in Sci-Fi tropes, the fact that nanites could squirm their way inside you without your noticing probably would have to be explained, but clever folks like you guys seemed to already be assuming it to be the case. However, I also kind of needed this page as a step in Megaweapon's gradual realization of just what a disadvantage he's in. And trust me, IT GETS WORSE.

Speaking of "Oh crap" moments, The Killer Station of Deadly Doom just had a bit of a revelation too. Go vote and find out what!

So, for all my carrying on about making a Far Out There FAQ, I've neglected to talk about the revamped Character Profiles I've been trying to do for ages and ages. Well, I'm inching closer, as these unfinished pictures of Trigger and Layla demonstrate. Any feedback would be appreciated!

This page is pretty much what I expected.

I do like the Trigger image, and looking forward to seeing it coloured.
I like Layla's too, but it seems to be one of those photos where a few seconds later they see you and try and steal your camera. (She also looks like she's waiting around for someone - a casual event since she doesn't seem to be in 'date' or 'work' clothes or anything... I choose to believe she's going with Trigger to get ice-cream. Because ice-cream is awesome)
Also, the missing line at the bottom of her foot distracts/annoys me I think due to my childhood spent carefully colouring in pictures that were meant to be coloured in. Having an open line would allow the colour to escape! Or something. (It made perfect sense when I was a kid!)

Incentive: OK, I have no idea why I didn't see that one coming.
Good job, and it does explain some things.

Well, like I said, it's an unfinished picture. Obviously, the final draft Will have the rest of those shoes added in. I'm still not sure if it should be the "main" Layla image or not, though (My plan is to have one big picture, like we have now, but then a little gallery of additional pictures)

I am having no problem taking pleasure in this.
maybe that makes me a bad person
maybe I'm just good at ignoring cute
maybe I'm remembering that Jenna is cuter
maybe I'm racist against green people

It's like when I studied what kind of organisms live in everyone's bodies.
EW, I didn't really want to know!

In the incentive, "homicidal towards humans" is redundant. It seems like the sort of thing that Ichabod, of all people, would avoid. Unless... We have robots here (like IO) who evidently have emotions and are probably self-aware. I can easily imagine that such entities would insist on being classified as "people" and that "homicidal" would be extended to refer to all people, not just humans. In which case Ichabod is precisely correct. (as usual)

And his LAST statement is certainly correct!

Blitzkrieg1701, March 6th, 2012, 10:25 pm

Oh, nice nitpicking there! Well done!

Yeah, I just used "homicidal" in the sense of "really dangerous and stuff", adding the "towards humans" part to make it clear that this was more than just blind hostility. You're right, though, I should have used a world that didn't already mean "killing humans".

I have to comment that the page seems to be shaped like Megaweapon. I like that! Good job!

About the incentive, he's not just any machine. He's a machine that already showed the power to wirelessly control at least one of the doors of the place. Presumably the others can be controlled too? So yes, that's trouble.

Blitzkrieg1701, March 7th, 2012, 10:47 pm

I was wondering if anyone was going to catch that! Yeah, I always wonder about layouts like this, since inevitably some speech bubble obscures something that makes the shape recognizable, but I guess this one worked out alright!

As for the incentive... Oh, you don't know the half of it >:D

A Man-Person (Guest), March 8th, 2012, 1:26 pm

So what happens if the nanites wake up again? Mega being tickled from the inside? That would be... different.

Blitzkrieg1701, March 8th, 2012, 3:46 pm

That's actually what has happening the first time, and he obviously didn't care much for it then.
