YES! I got the page done after all! ...sort of. So, here's the deal. The original plan was to go ahead and post this version of the page now, then power on through the night and get the colored version and Voting Incentive up by dawn... but I am BEAT. It's been a really exhausting week and I NEED some sleep. Still, I will get the rest of this update finished before Tuesday night. And the important thing is, we still got SOMETHING up more or less on time! TAKE THAT CATACLYSMIC STORM DAMAGE!

Anyway, about the comic. Once again, proof that Jenna is really the only one of these kids with any clue what's actually going on. Also, proof that Trigger is A FOOL. Yes, yes, I know I'm the one who said in the first place that Trigger wouldn't get over Skye after just a day or two, but still, come on! Jenna is all KINDS of cute in this page! If I were a wee little adolescent twerp again, I'd be all over that!

(P.S. Sorry all you Trigger/Jenna shippers)

ATTENTION! Not only is the page finally colored, but THE LATEST KILLER STATION OF DEADLY DOOM PAGE IS UP! Go vote on TWC and see it!

I like how Layla keeps peeking around the corners like that listening to them. She should probably take some lessons in furtiveness/sneaking from Trigger.
...Actually, no she shouldn't.

Jenna nearly broke Trigger there.
And Layla, I'm not sure Trigger actually knows what he did.

Jenna looks so happy in that last panel, despite knowing.
(Psst, Jenna, last chance to catch hum unawares with a hug!)
(OK, now I was reminded of the "Bananas in Pyjamas" show I used to watch as a child...)

I don't think this page would discourage TriggerXJenna shippers.

(Although, really, Trigger in a relationship? I don't really see any good coming out of something like that at this time.)

See, that's the thing: Trigger clearly hasn't the first clue how boy/girl stuff is actually supposed to work. Jenna realizes this, which is why she's content to just smile and move on (have I said recently how much more mature she is than EVERYONE else in this comic?)

The strange thing about all this is that I started thinking about who else acted maturely in the comic. And, of all people, who came to mind? Vengeance! Telling off Kevin about how he had been treating Layla.

So then I started thinking about a situation where, say, they're in port and see a little boy wander into the street in front of a truck. What would they do? Jenna would rush out, grab the boy, and get them both out of the way in the nick if time. (Understanding just how dangerous that was, and doing it anyway.) Trigger would do the same, because he wouldn't understand the danger. Avatar the same, because she wouldn't actually be in danger. Layla? This gets interesting. I think she's basically good deep down inside, and with no time to think she'd save the boy. Then (silently) berate herself for taking a stupid risk for someone she doesn't even know and whose parents probably don't even have the money to pay a decent reward! Then she'd notice that a lot of people saw what she did and decide it was probably for the best after all. Vengeance would step into the street and glare at the truck, which would stop instantly. And Stilez would just blow it up... for fun. Saving the boy would be a mere accidental side effect... unless Tax had asked her to.

I can't think of a single thing wrong with any of this :D

And what would Ichabod do? Probably throw an apple at the driver, causing him to swerve.

EDIT: actually, there ARE one or two observations I could make... but they'd be spoilers >:D

Seros Senric (Guest), July 3rd, 2012, 9:07 pm

I agree that those characters would probably take those actions in that scenario.

Ichabod has an infinite number of apples on his person at all times.

I still like how Trigger has half replied before he catches that she said the "D" word.

Incentive: It's times like these that you want an external switch you can press on the robot. An emergency stop button which immediately cuts off all power. (one of those is legally required for most production machinery anyway)

Blitzkrieg1701, July 3rd, 2012, 9:50 pm

It's funny you should mention emergency stops, actually (not QUITE a spoiler, but... well, you'll see)

Also, I just not noticed that I forgot to add the pattern to Janna's dress AGAIN. -___-;;;

Stonefoot, July 4th, 2012, 1:03 am

You know, I thought Ichabod would probably think of some solution where he wouldn't be in danger himself, but I completely forgot about the apples he always seems to have.

One thing about that 'kid wandering into the street' scenario. I was thinking of what other characters could be considered mature. Cap'n Crosby is a competent and responsible adult, at least where his ship in concerned, but what if it wasn't? If he saw a kid wandering into traffic, would he do anything? So it's his question, but he's about the only one I don't have an answer for.

(Two more examples: Kevin and Megaweapon. Neither one would care. Kevin wouldn't catch on until the truck ran over the kid, then he'd be staring and saying things like "Look at all the blood! What's that thing? Do we all have all that yukky stuff inside us? KOOL!" Megaweapon would catch on immediately and get as close as he safely could to see as much as possible, probably getting half covered with blood. While Kevin was marveling at all the gore, he'd be stealing the truck.)

Also - to the extent that these predictions are accurate that's in large part because the characters are well defined and consistently portrayed. Well, and then Stilez? She only knows 3 answers: violence, more violence, and incredibly massive violence. :D

Blitzkrieg1701, July 4th, 2012, 1:25 am

...and then afterwards, Ichabod would take a few minutes to explain why apple-throwing was a TERRIBLE idea (he could have missed, the swerving truck could have gone anywhere, and so forth)

Regarding Cap'n Crosby... he'd probably never leave the ship, so the situation doesn't apply :)

...and Blip would just watch it happen and be disappointed that the truck didn't blow up. XD

Yay! Jenna's happy, of thought, how much trouble is trigger going to get for his good guy attitude? And will Layla be the one pointing and laughing?
