See? SEE? (well, the Cap'n doesn't see) I TOLD you we'd have another page already! GO ME! Sadly, this IS going to be the last we see of the "real" story until December 26th, but I still think you're going to enjoy what I've got cooking for the month in between (and, besides, you'll still have The Killer Station of Deadly Doom to tide you over)

And just in case this seems more ambiguous than it's supposed to, Cap'n Crosby's totally messing with Layla. He's not some impossibly ancient relic of a previous era. As Avatar implies, he could take off the whole suit and be indistinguishable from the average old man. HOWEVER, since this is the future and there's magic super medicine and all, it IS possible that an "average old man" could still be a LOT older than the present day elderly (there I go, giving myself extra wiggle room with everyone's ages again)

See you Friday for the start of CHRISTMAS STUFF!!!

Usually I leave the typos to others... but, shouldn't "spae" be "space" there in the second panel?

Seems the Cap'n is rather attached to his helmet.
Avatar Disapproves (of lying)

Looking forward to the Christmas stuff!
...Which reminds me I still have a few things I need to do for my Christmas stuff...

Blitzkrieg1701, November 28th, 2012, 2:11 am

Hey man, let's see YOU travel through some deep spae without a protective suit! :D

Seros Senric (Guest), November 28th, 2012, 2:39 am

Eh, nothing I haven't done before.
...Does a pressurised atmosphere attached to a gravitational mass count as a protective suit?

Zaealix (Guest), November 28th, 2012, 11:19 am

...And here I thought there was something funny about him. It turns out to just be a suit thing, Samus style. Ah well, I guess they can't all have super involved back stories with mysteries and all that like Avatar.

I can't remember when we said it before, but it deserves to be said again: Captain Crosby ain't got TIME for a convoluted backstory! He's a busy man! :)

Antonio (Guest), November 28th, 2012, 3:20 pm

@Zaealix: Funny you should mention the Captain's and Avatar's past. To my recollection, we still haven't heard exactly why they are pals or how they met.
Or did I just forget?

Also on typo duty, I must confess I don't speak oldpersonese (yet), but I suspect you meant to call their clothes "big".

Seros Senric (Guest), November 28th, 2012, 6:08 pm

We did learn that they met when Avatar got stuck in something engine related in his ship.
We still don't know why he decided to give her a free ride though. (But hey, check out the wild theories thread for a couple of things that may explain that)

On a related note, do we know how long she's been travelling with the Cap'n?

Zaealix (Guest), November 28th, 2012, 9:39 pm

Hrm...If I'm right, we can infer a few things.
The engine incident, as well as however it was that the Cap'n was persuaded to give her a free ride, happened when Icabod was with her, as I believe it was mentioned that Vengance was the only other person who had been around the ship longer than Icabod.
Thus, Vengance came along, then Icabod, then Avatar, sometime when Icabod wasn't around, so he didn't find out how she did it.
I might have missed something in there though...

Blitzkrieg1701, November 28th, 2012, 10:54 pm

Actually, if I'm remembering my own words correctly (which, I must confess, isn't always a sure thing), Avatar was the first on the ship. That's why Ichabod doesn't know why she gets a free ride, it was worked out before he was there to ask. If I did, in fact, fail to state that clearly before... well, I did now!

And, actually, it's probably better to have Avatar arrive first, because that would be an important clue to how old she is. If no one else knows when she turned up on the ship, it becomes that much easier to preserve the mystery (Mwahahahaha!)

As for Vengeance... that's a good question. When DID he first book passage on this ship? He's a mysterious one, that Vengeance. (Technically, Ichabod never said how long Vengeance had been on board. He does IMPLY that he'd already secured use of the ship when Vengeance booked passage, but we don't know that for certain yet)
