So... yeah... I just spent the last week trying to pound out this MASSIVE Conventional Wisdom update in between work and stuff, and... I'm tired. I'm very tired.

Which brings us to today's update. First off, this is MANY hours late, and the end result doesn't justify the ammount of time it took. The dramatic lighting really didn't turn out the way it was supposed to here, especially in the fifth panel (there was supposed to be several shades of green). Also, the layout is rather problematic, both in terms of panels, character blocking, and even the speech bubbles. Blah blah blah whine whine whine whatever.

The really bad part, though? There is no new Voting Incentive. YET. Here's the deal: the Killer Station of Deadly Doom is hitting a really complicated point of the plot arc (heck, I just up and decided to screw up gravity in the most recent page) and... well, I can barely form words right now. I just didn't trust myself to do that material justice right now. SO, I'll do the Incentive once I've had some time to actually sleep. Keep an eye on the Facebook group or my Twitter for an announcement sometime tomorrow when it's finally up.

Just to end this on a happier note, I do kinda like how the interaction between Ichabod and Layla turned out. It's not exactly "friendly" or anything, but they do seem very used to each other at this point. Casual antagonism is funny. (also, I tried to slip in some references to all that speculation from earlier. Wish I could have done more, though)

EDIT: Okay, THERE! Voting Incentive done!

Ichabod's reference to the earlier speculations fit really well since they were all nitpick-ish to begin with.

On another note, one of the reasons why I have always found nitpickers hilarious is because they are always just standing around observing and passing all forms of criticism with almost absolute disregard for the target's emotions.

That said, it seems that a bit of his years of experience have gotten into Ichabod's head, since he tends to control his timing to speak more often than before; other than for when you ask for his opinion on the matter, technically making you the one "asking for it".

His last comment really hit the spot. If this universe didn't have nitpicking as a profession, he would probably still make it big as a critic.

Failure is just a negative term for 'learning experience'.
And if you do something that kills you, well, at least you probably won't make that mistake again.

I like the interaction between Layla and Ichabod on this page. And that Ichabod does mention a bit of some of the crazy stuff we came up with :)

Avatar and Trigger look pretty happy messing with that stuff...

Waiting for people to screw up so you can watch what happens can be an enjoyable pastime. Until they try and get you involved just before they screw it up.

You know, there's this speech about Nitpicking that I've had in my head for a while, and I keep trying to find places for Ichabod to give it. I tried to wedge it into this little exchange, but it just felt forced (and there was already too much talking here anyway) Too bad, 'cos I bet you guys would find it pretty interesting.

Sounds like that crystal DID get into the ship systems, and through the connection to the ship, that would mess up the Captain...But still doesn't explain the lamps...Or how things separate from the ship would be messed up.
Something I notice about Ichabod, is that while he's certainly willing to critize others, he certainly is willing to cop to it when he's not able to help out.

Ichabod: It's better to just stay out of the way than make things worse by bumbling around when I don't know what I'm doing.

Layla: Basically, that's just an excuse to never do anything at all.

Ichabod: Yes, I think it's pretty good too!

Right, of the seven sins he subscribes to sloth, in particular.
Layla, must be greed.
Trigger is lust, what with his fanservice tendancies and romantic subplots.
Vengance is Wrath, cause Vengance.
Gluttony is hard to attribute, as well as usually being annoying to give to someone. But considering Avatar's quest for Knowledge, she could work, as well as being an amusingly ironic Gluttony.
Envy, the best thing I've got is Tax, since she? he? is just a normal kid, next to the universally feared Stilez.
Captain Crosby takes pride in his work, and thus is Pride's representative.

Hey wow, that's pretty good.

And you know what else? There's actually a character none of you have met yet who would TOTALLY fit for envy!

Story of his life... and his job description.

Seros Senric (Guest), January 18th, 2013, 2:42 am

@MrTTAO
So, is his life like that because of his job, or did he choose his job because his life was like that?

MrTTAO, January 18th, 2013, 3:27 am

@seros Senric: That is something to ask the author

Blitzkrieg1701, January 18th, 2013, 3:56 am

Ichabod: You ask this like it's an "Either Or" thing. Actually it's more of a "Both And"
