Wow, another LAAAAATE update. So... uh... yeah, I'm very very sleepy right now and have very little to say about... stuff... right now. I dunno. You guys say some stuff and once I've managed to get some sleep I'll reply, and... yeah.

And also vote on TWC for another new page of The Killer Station of Deadly Doom, 'cos... yeah...

OH! One thing I've actually got the brainpower to say. Make sure you don't miss Tuesday's page! I think you'll like it! :D

Sooo it seems like it's an official thing that Layla's angry faces are frightening to behold.
At least as far as Ichabod's concerned.

Question:
Is this going to develop in a violent manner or is it going to be resolved in whatever seems to be the most civil manner of doing so?

Well, I reckon for most of the part Layla is pissed off at the fact they could do something now but can't as the scenario the Capt puts across does make some sense, bringing them back to square one.

Then again, they could just detail their entire call for help with their concern and I'm sure we humans are not as dumb to not have more than one ship on standby to test the "waters".

Checked this page a few times a couple hours ago and was initially worried that there would be no update today.

Decided to check this one more time, even though I should probably already be asleep by now. Yay for update!

But yeah, I figured this would be a problem. Having some sensors up and running would be nicer for them I'd expect, but if I recall correctly, at least one other person does in fact know that something is wrong, but no idea what, so may have sent help.
Telling people what they know could help prevent other ships being caught dead in the water, so to speak. Also, wondering if some outsiders could send a probe towards them and check how close it can get before it stops transmitting. That could help too.

Incentive:
Been watching MacGyver, and it makes me think of lots of things he could do with the random stuff he's picked up this story...

What they *could* do is signal for a ship to come *near* them (without endangering themselves, of course) and then send Avatar (who, after all, doesn't need a spacesuit) to explain what's going on. Or is that *too* obvious?

Fun fact about the last panel: originally, Ichabod wasn't talking about Layla at all. As written, he was supposed to be helping the Cap'n point the right direction ('cos, you know, he can't see) Unfortunately, that turned out to be very hard to draw right. He couldn't be facing the entirely wrong way, since he should still HEAR where she is, but the more subtle approach I tried here just doesn't work either (if I didn't mention anything, would YOU have thought he was looking to Layla's right?) Ichabod was hard to draw too. At first, he was going to be moving the Captain's helmet with his hands, but that obscured too much of them both. So, I tried putting his hand on the SHOULDER, which had the unexpected result of making ichabod look like he was cowering, prompting a whole new line.

(I do kind of like that he's expression is still emotionless, despite the line. It'd like he's not exactly SCARED of Layla, just properly wary of an approaching danger)

Stick: Layla's smart enough to avoid openly challenging Captain Crosby's authority, but that doesn't mean that she'll avoid voicing her displeasure.

Reynard: The problem remains that they have no idea how much space is affected by this... whatever it is. Plus (and I don't think this has been spelled out as well as it could have been) when the ship's sensors WERE working, they didn't give any indication of something being wrong before everything went dark. Thus, there's really no way to tell how close a ship could get before getting TOO close. The Cap'n doesn't want to take that chance.

And anyway, I can't imagine him being okay with kicking Avatar out into space, regardless of where she was expected to end up.

Well of course he shouldn't *kick* Avatar out into space! But, assuming that they can get another spaceship close enough to them without endangering it, they're probably going to need *someone* to go EVA in order to attach a tow-line to the ship -- unless the other ship can fire a grapnel or magnetic line to them, *then* Avatar can presumably stay safely aboard ship.

this can't be healthy for her, she might bust a vein her in eye
