Don't bother trying to zoom in on that text. It's just a rant about frosted animal crackers and breakfast cereal... Dang it, I just made you want to read it MORE, didn't I?

Okay, if you tuned in late or just didn't bother reading the author's comments last time, this page and the previous one were originally going to be the same comic. I freely admit that, upon breaking in two, I botched the execution of the first half (too little material, recycling the same joke as the previous comic), but I defend the original decision on the grounds of how THIS page turned out. Trying to wedge two or three extra panels into this page would have meant shrinking down the panels of Alphonse's "scan", and that just wasn't going to work. If all that Magical Girl stuff I watched earlier has taught me anything, it's that the special attack is a BIG DEAL, especially the first time we see it. And, I mean, come on! Alphonse just shot a fireball as big as he is! That has to have room to breathe!

Of course, the very concept of explosion-based sensors seems to be the point at which absurdity overpowers even Layla's cuteness stupor.

And speaking of cuteness, Tabitha giving Bridget a lil' pat on the head just because. SQUEEE!!!

Finally, speaking of things that go boom, thee's a new Voting Incentive for you guys! Enjoy!

Aww :( The text is scaled down such that characters are less than 6 pixels high. I can't restore that with any accuracy. I can see a few words ("I'm", "There", there's a couple that are in caps, pretty sure there's an "I mean" in there too...) but not enough
You could have used a font for tiny text like BitScript, or actually wrote it out in a small font instead of scaling it down, or used a different scaling algorithm such that I could read it without spending way too long deciphering it. And I'm too lazy to spend that long.

Also, I'm assuming that there is a 1 somewhere after the #000? How many extra 0s? (I guess it depends on how many letters follow that S)

Anyway. Bridget looks happy there, which is good. And I think Layla's realising that the novelty of Magical Boy Alphonse explosion scanning rooms will probably wear off before they finish.

Incentive: Is he going to try and climb up there? It doesn't look safe.

Well, as I hinted, the text honestly WASN'T meant to be an easter egg or anything like that. I just needed to fill the screen up with SOMETHING, and lots of tiny text just seemed more interesting to me than a graph or something. It really is just a boring rant about making Rice Crispie Treats out of cereals other than Rice Crispies and stuff like that. And quite a bit got cut off by the edge of the panel, so it wouldn't make sense to read anyway (Speaking of which, there actually WAS a 1 at the end of that number, it got cut off too!)

I really do love that little Mother/Daughter moment there. We've seen several times that Bridget's a little insecure over how Alphonse can do all this stuff she can't. These little reminders that Mommy's proud of her no matter what clearly mean a lot to her.

I agree, that text is QUITE too small. I think I can get some meaning but am not sure how much is me making it up.
However, if we assume the three first lines are centered, and that the third one says only "Initial Reading", then I estimate the visible screen is a bit more than half the screen, the number in the second has about twelve zeroes, and the second word in the first ISN'T merely "SCAN". Presumably "SCAN-O-MATIC" or somesuch.

Also, you do know that the standard when you need filler text for a layout is to use the Lorem Ipsum, right?

...but then I couldn't play with the minds of others by making them wonder what I could POSSIBLY have been saying about breakfast cereal for so long! :(

Explosion-based scanning?...
I feel the need to make sense of this. The impression I'm getting, is some sort of probe made out of energy that goes out, and then explodes, releasing a single radar-like pulse all over the place, and marking anything in the blast radius...Compared to simply mounting it in Alphonse-hologram? MAD SCIENCE DOES NOT MAKE SENSE!

Really, it's just that last sentence :D
