You know what? Tabitha's been a bit too... "together" in this story. Everybody else is getting annoyed and frightened and aggravated all over the place, and Tabitha's just sitting there smiling and in control. TIME TO PUT A STOP TO THAT! Yep, they may love each other, but Tabitha's Dad clearly know how to get on his little girl's nerves. (and did I just open the floodgates for Tabitha-related shipping speculation? Oops!)

I must confess, though, I'm slightly annoyed that I'd been planning to thow in a reference to the Voynich manuscript for AGES now, but I only manage to get around to it right after Sandra & Woo did a far, far better reference. Poo.

Anyway, by the time you read this, I'll be up in DC for Intervention, which means there's no new Voting Incentive today (though the Incentive Gallery is all updated, so now's a perfect time to get caught up on everything!) I wasn't able to get Tuesday's comic finished before I left, which means I'll have to do it when I get back- while also working on Conventional Wisdom stuff- and THAT means we may not have a new incentive until Friday. There's always hope, though, so stay tuned!

My favourite webcomic reference to the Voynich Manuscript is still xkcd's.
It being for a Tabletop RPG is so obvious. :P

In more seriousness, some of the stuff people have found out about that manuscript is amazing. To the point that if someone does end up translating it, whatever it says we're probably going to be disappointed by the content.

Concerning Tabitha shipping... I don't recall actually shipping any fictional characters before. Tabitha with someone seems as good a place to start as any :P

Yesss, let the shipping flow through you!

To start that let me ask, did Megaweapon have a mom? Because if not you could pair her with his dad and have a "cheaper by the dozen" kinda plot.

Also, methinks that should be either "...mastery OF..." or "...mastery OVER...".

Seros Senric (Guest), August 23rd, 2013, 5:40 pm

Megaweapon's dad is married, and is now Jenna's step-dad. Adding further complications to that would probably upset Jenna, so even without the moral implications I'll try to avoid that.
Here's their family together: http://faroutthere.smackjeeves.com/comics/1350715/gluttony-day/

I'm still deciding... But I think maybe I'll try to put Tabitha with Vengeance :P

Antonio (Guest), August 23rd, 2013, 8:46 pm

Yes, I was thinking mostly of Jenna, but forgot her name. I didn't remember that they weren't biological siblings, let alone that her mom was still around.
Actually, I guess that is ALREADY that sort of plot. So, my wish was fullfilled in advance. Good work!

As for Vengeance, that sounds generically funny but, so what? Do you have any actual thing to say about that?
On my part, I'll posit for your consideration: Avatar. Her "I hate mad scientists!" works perfectly with Tabitha's "But I'm not a mad scientist!". Should be hilarious, probably.

Personally, I've been acting under the assumption that Tabitha just doesn't have time for romance one way or the other. We know she doesn't have much of a social life, so dating probably isn't a thing for her. Also, Tabitha's so head-over-heels obsessed with Bridget and Alphonse that the thought of needing anyone else to be happy probably doesn't occur to her. That was why I originally wrote her being so embarrassed at Dad's suggestion here: it's just an alien concept to her.

...BUT, the more I think about it, the more I worry about setting that in stone. Honestly, as this arc has unfolded, Tabitha's become a lot more free spirited and whimsical than I'd originally planned, to the point that I actually COULD see her getting romantic with someone. (and really, the reaction in this page could just be because no teenage girl wants their Dad poking around in their love life, right?) I dunno, I guess I'm just trying to keep the options open. The Artist Reserves The Right To Have A Better Idea.

Regarding Jenna & Megaweapon, they're half siblings. Same Mom, just different Dad. And as for Jenna's love life... Let's just say that I have plans. *evil laugh*

*evil laughter* + shipping (usually) = Interesting times.

Antonio (Guest), August 24th, 2013, 4:32 pm

Hey, now, I never said anything about JENNA's love life.
Just that making her (and to a lesser degree, her siblings) suddenly be siblings to Alphonse and Bridget would make for a fun subplot. Or spin-off. Whichever.

Bridget & Alphonse meeting Megaweapon IS a thing that needs to happen outside of voting incentives.

Cool shades/goggles that retract when unnecessary are very mad science... and totally awesome. I want a pair!
