So, I was kind of torn on whether or not to keep calling out page number milestones like this. After all, after seven of them, one could argue they're not all that special anymore. But on the other hand, I didn't really have anything ELSE for TAX to be doing at the moment, and Tax & Avatar both could use some more stuff to do. And more importantly, I knew I could draw this page really fast, AND I could bump the already half-finished next page back to Tuesday, thus putting me ahead of schedule! And how often does THAT happen around here?

But yeah, not only is this page actually online BEFORE NOON, but I even got the new Voting Incentive done on time! Go me!

Oh, and I forgot to mention it up there, but it does my heart good to see so much rampant speculation on the last page :D

That said, I do feel it's my duty to confirm that Eric would never, ever choose to leave his family in the dark. Even if it really, genuinely would make more sense to fake his death & not tell them, he'd risk ruining it all to tell them anyway. (Remember: for all his skills at taking money from people, Eric was actually really terrible at lying)

Seros Senric (Guest), February 5th, 2016, 7:38 am

With this page milestone, what gave me pause is... Why'd the door let Tax draw on it? Is it locked so it won't automatically open?
I guess I'm just really used to all sci-fi doors in space ships being automatic.

I do like the detail that she's gotten her fingers all green drawing it, though.

Concerning Eric - I like that my position was confirmed, but that doesn't mean I can't still be sad he's gone.
Although, there is still the "held against his will" possibility, as unlikely as it is.

I wonder if we'll see some results for the rest of that speculation any time soon...

I forget the name of that German beer festival.
Drunk Tabitha doesn't seem safe to me. Try to keep her away from anything she can turn into mad science.

Number 6 (Guest), February 5th, 2016, 10:49 am

@Seros Senric: Oktoberfest, but they're thinking of renaming it to "BeerCon". Obsessive fans of Beer gather together and dress up in costumes, so it's a con, right? Drunk Tabitha is still safer than drunk Stilez. Though I'm not sure how many hundreds of gallons of beer it would take to get Stilez tipsy.

Ed8 (Guest), February 5th, 2016, 1:52 pm

Wow, Layla wasn't kidding when she said her dad was a Master Con Artist - he's so good he's even got Blitz fooled into thinking he's dead! :p

Ed8 (Guest), February 5th, 2016, 1:54 pm

Also a possibility: He's in Witness Protection - therefore not allowed to contact his family.

The rules are that you are allowed to celebrate centennials until you reach strip 1000, at which time you have to switch to quarter-millenials at least. Counting TKSDD, you're actually pretty close to 1000 plot-related strips already. (June 28th will be plot-related-strip 1000)

Also, given that Tax is not really interested in cleaning up after playing, it would be amusing if this hallway shows up in the background of a strip 3 years from now and the "800" is still there. :)

Blitzkrieg1701, February 5th, 2016, 4:13 pm

Actually, that'd be pretty funny. Especially if someone also stumbled onto a mysterious giant "500 Pages" floating in space :)

Ed8 (Guest), February 5th, 2016, 5:04 pm

Frank, the Third Most Important Person in the Universe, standing in the background talking on the phone with his insurance agent: "What the bleep do you mean insurance won't cover the collision damage to my ship?! Who the bleep just leaves a giant number 500 floating around in space anyway?!?"

Seros Senric (Guest), February 5th, 2016, 5:21 pm

The 500 being mentioned again seems more likely than this 800, since I imagine this 800 will get cleaned up pretty soon.
(Although, probably not by Tax)

And yeah, if stopping the hundred page milestones, having a big final one at 1000 pages seems like the way to go.

Darius Drake (Guest), February 5th, 2016, 6:56 pm

@ Number 6: Beer? Why are you trying to get Stilez drunk with beer? Have her get onto a ship which had Vodka in it's water dispensers. It won't smell, and she'd get drunk on surviving on that for a week. That said, she probably wouldn't be very different from how she is normally, just clumsy. Booze works by messing with your inhibitions, and Stillez doesn't have many of those!

Honestly, if you want someone who's interesting when drunk, get Layla drunk. If it's HER, I don't know how she'll act.

Blitzkrieg1701, February 5th, 2016, 7:12 pm

The thought did occur that, honestly, I'm not sure if Stilez CAN get drunk. It's conceivable that, with her strength & healing factor, her metabolism might break down any alcohol before she ever got tipsy.

As for Layla... yeah, I have no idea what she'd do under those circumstances. SHE probably doesn't even know, and would try to avoid the situation for that very reason (But yeah, she would NOT be a quiet drunk)

Darius Drake (Guest), February 6th, 2016, 2:02 am

@ Blitz: Given her general attitude, I'd say that she'd be a cuddly & kind drunk. If you're saying she'll be noisy, she'll be noisy as well. Thus we have her turning into drunk who grabs a cuddle-toy (Avatar or Trigger. Maybe Tax, if she's there) and drags them off to watch cute kiddie movies, screaming about what she's going to watch the entire way. Before passing out five minutes after the movie starts.

Darius Drake (Guest), February 6th, 2016, 2:14 am

...wait, I just realised. HEALING FACTOR? What healing factor? We have never seen her harmed, let alone needed quick healing. Care to explain?

Seros Senric (Guest), February 6th, 2016, 4:48 am

@Darius Drake
I know about Stilez healing factor, since it was one of the questions I asked Blitz on the forums a while ago. (Well, I asked how Stilez dealt with potential injuries)
The answer I got was basically that Stilez has Wolverine-style super healing and a super-high pain tolerance.

Also, apparently Stilez only needs to eat once every few weeks, but when she does her meal is HUGE.
And that it's a possibility that a side-effect of her super-strength-and-healing is that her sense of taste is pretty dull, and so she likes ultra-mega-hot spicy things.

And this is just one of the many reasons why people should visit the forums.

Number 6 (Guest), February 6th, 2016, 1:25 pm

Vodka? Ugh!
@Darius Drake - Oktoberfest-Stilez doesn't drink vodka, she drinks Beer! It's tradition! Now, if Tabitha dresses her up in a traditional Russian themed outfit, then she can drink Vodka. Though it still wouldn't explain why anyone would want to. (I have pretty much the same opinion of Vodka as Blitz apparently has of beer)

Blitzkrieg1701, February 6th, 2016, 2:08 pm

I decided Stilez had an insanely-fast quick healing factor because we already had one character who was just plain "indestructible" and two seemed to be pushing it. Practically speaking, it's the same thing (I mean, we're probably never gonna see Stilez get injuries that just seal up quickly) but at least it SOUNDS different!

Seros Senric (Guest), February 6th, 2016, 6:04 pm

The other difference is, unlike Avatar, Stilez could grow up.
And is unlikely to survive past the end of the universe.

Ed8 (Guest), February 6th, 2016, 8:06 pm

@Seros Senric - Sure, the 800 might get cleaned up pretty soon in in-comic time, but based on the past flow of time here, "later that same day" could still mean "300 strips from now" ;)

Which brings up the following question: How long has it been (in-comic time) since the strip started? ...If only there were some sort of "Forum" where I could ask these sorts of questions. hmmmm..... ;)

Ed8 (Guest), February 6th, 2016, 8:16 pm

Stilez having a healing factor may explain some of her survival, but even if she isn't Avatar-level indestructible, she still must be Really Really Difficult to Injure in the first place - we've seen her take a full hit from Warship Main Guns with it only char the outside of her suit, and she can punch away blaster/laser beams with her fist when she's really upset, which can't be done just with good regeneration. If Wolverine tries that, he's going to be regenerating a new hand from a stump. She did say that she had been hurt back when the Army guys/Mad Scientists had her, so presumably they made her from something less tough than Whilehusite but tougher than Mithril so they could still control her. That plan does not seem to have worked out well for them.

Also, she may be highly resistant to alcohol intoxication, but keep her away from the catnip at all costs! :o

Darius Drake (Guest), February 7th, 2016, 6:19 am

@ Number 6: Vodka's supposed to be colourless, scentless, and, (at least relatively) tasteless. I wasn't commenting on it as a substance, as I don't drink alcohol, period. But, if I was trying to trick Stilez into drinking booze, I'd use Vodka just for the properties it's supposed to have.

Blitzkrieg1701, February 7th, 2016, 7:45 am

Ed8: I try to avoid nailing down exactly how much time has passed, 'cos then I can include as many flashbacks or whatever as I want without screwing up an established timeline (Plus, if I tried, you just know I'd forget something and mess it all up)

Ed8, February 7th, 2016, 7:47 pm

Stilez The Destroyer
@Seros Senric: Your comment earlier about Stilez being able to grow up (unlike Avatar) reminded me of this prior vote incentive of the fearsome Stilez, Ultimate Chaos War Machine, Terror of the Galaxy, Scourge of Civilization:

Terrifying, isn't she?

Seros Senric (Guest), February 7th, 2016, 10:45 pm

@Ed8: She's the most terrifying.
