I'm torn between being frustrated that this page is so late and amazed I even managed to get it done at all. But hey, I did warn you guys on Twitter that this one was gonna be laaaaaaaaate, didn't I? I was super busy doing last minute MAGFest stuff, and didn't even get STARTED drawing this page until, like, 4am. And the worst part is, I was actually CLOSE to getting it online at a reasonable time anyway... until I fell asleep at the computer again.

Speaking of which, I've got good news and bad news. The bad is, for the time being, new Voting Incentives are on hold. Obviously, things aren't getting done as it is, so SOMETHING had to give, at least until MAGFest blows over. Regular updates should remain on schedule, and while the Patreon comics might have their schedules disrupted (HA!), everyone should still get what they paid for next week. The catgirl cosplay should resume... in two weeks, at the latest.

The GOOD news, after having just told you I can't do extra material, is that there's extra material coming out this weekend! Yes, there'll be not one, but TWO bonus pages over the next two days, and they're already drawn, so I don't have to freak out about doing them. Sunday is Valentine's Day, so I've got a little something for that, and tomorrow... gosh, I wonder what could have happened on February 13th, eight years ago, that would need commemorating...

(Oh, by the way, if you wanna see some of the stuff I've been scrambling over for MAGFest, check out what I just finished last night!)

Free Advice
@Layla - I'm no Happiness Expert Guy, but I suspect that making your happiness dependent on other people being unhappy is not the ticket to happiness. And if it is, you're probably not a very good person.

Also, I'll have to agree with the Alt-hovertext - Trigger hugs are always cute, and Layla definitely has issues. The really amazing thing is that in this scene there is a kid who was abducted as a baby and sealed in an underground capsule, deprived of his childhood and social contact, raised by robots, and programmed for an ultimately futile and unnecessary task of destruction, and he's not the bitter, sullen, unhappy one. In fact, he's usually quite happy. Generally, he's only unhappy when he sees that someone else is sad. There just might possibly perhaps be a tiny little lesson in there for you, Layla. Maybe.

Then again, I'm giving advice to a fictional character, so I guess I might not be an example of pristine mental health either ;)

Happy 8th Birthday to FOT!

@ Layla: You're unhappy partially because you grew up believing (somehow) that the most important thing for happyness is money. Also, you're trying to get back to your happy place rapidly after the worst series of events in your life (your father's death, getting kicked out by your mother, etc).

Poor Layla :(
I know just how despondent and depressed she feels: I felt the same way when I found out there weren't going to be any more Amazon Catgirl Cosplay Vote Incentives for the next couple weeks. I need a hug, too. (Preferably from an Amazon Catgirl, if possible.)

If it hadn't been already been established that Layla and Trigger see each other as brother and sister, we could've really made the wrong assumptions about this page's filter.

Yeah, I had to be careful to use one that was only glitter, no, like, rose petals or anything.

I have two equally important questions:
1. Is Layla upset because she feels alone romantically due to lack of a boyfriend, or because she feels alone socially in general?
2. Is Princess Rheiko's Wacky Space Race a movie like Cannonball Run, or a video game like Mario Kart featuring characters from the Rheiko franchise?

Blitzkrieg1701, February 15th, 2016, 9:30 pm

1. In general. She copes with all the bad stuff that's happened to her by telling herself that bad things happen to EVERYBODY, so there's no sense in taking it personally... but then good things happen to people she hates, and that kind of ruins things.

2. Movie, since Vengeance is the one on the couch, and he doesn't strike me as much of a gamer.

@Blitz: Vengeance wouldn't have struck me as a Princess Rheiko fan either, but I guess there's a lot we don't know about that guy! He's very mysterious. Actually, he probably knows where she is, and just watches all the movies to see if anyone has guessed correctly yet.
