Wow, a page actually going up AT MIDNIGHT! How crazy at that? And it only took... what, a week of barely sleeping at all? Yeah, I'm really scrambling to get as many extra pages before MAGFest as possible. I've already got Friday's page inked, so that update will definitely be ready to go by the time I leave. I'm HOPING to have next Tuesday's page finished before then too, since Conventional Wisdom goes so much more smoothly when I don't have to stop for a day. I'm also hoping to get Voting Incentives up and running again after that. Admittedly, I've got ANOTHER convention next month, but I shouldn't have anywhere near as much to do before that one.

Oh, and speaking of schedule disruptions, the Patreon comic for this week will be really early too, since I kind of don't know how to set those to go live at a later date. So be sure to go check on that.

And for some reason, all I can think is... This has something to do with Tabitha, doesn't it?

Number 6 (Guest), February 15th, 2016, 11:19 pm

@Seros Senric: That was exactly the first thing I thought too!

Tabitha has developed some sort of Mad Science to capture Stilez because....
...She wants to study her healing/regenerative ability in order to finally give those kids some real ears and maybe even a voice?
...She wants to prove that Mad Science can be a force for good by ending Stilez's destructive rampage across the Galaxy?
...She has sworn a blood oath of vengeance against Stilez because her mom was on a space station Stilez blew up and that's why her mom's a ghost now?
...She wants unlimited Stilez cosplay dress-up opportunities?
...She's always wanted a pet cat?

Seros Senric (Guest), February 16th, 2016, 12:17 am

@Number 6
Or, possibly, because her friends are on the same ship as Stilez, and she wants to help them.

...But I'm going to go for "all the options" for now :P
Likely in a different order than written though.

Also, now that I look at the page again, I want a bigger version of Stilez carrying Tax and Avatar around.

Darius Drake (Guest), February 16th, 2016, 1:48 am

@ Number 6 & Seros Senric: My answer is:

...because she wants to apologise for the mad science that turned her into what she is now, and become friends. Like she tried to do with Avatar.

Seros Senric (Guest), February 16th, 2016, 2:08 am

@Darius Drake
And yet, causing a "ship-wide alert" doesn't seem like a good way of doing that...

Number 6 (Guest), February 16th, 2016, 11:10 am

FOT: Where the least likely explanation is probably right
Tabitha is attacking with the Apology & Friendship Death Fleet!

"You will surrender immediately, accept my apology, be friends, and then play dress-up with a series of increasingly unlikely costumes or be destroyed!!"

Ed8, February 16th, 2016, 2:13 pm

It's not necessarily Tabitha-related, it could be any one of the hundreds of civilizations that Stilez has left as smoking ruins which has come back for revenge. Really, the greatest danger from having Stilez on your ship isn't from her (since she's never going to destroy the ship while Tax is on it anyway) it's from anyone else in the Galaxy knowing that Stilez is on your ship! Her only choice now would be to surrender in order to keep Tax from being harmed in an attack. Of course, once she surrenders and is taken captive, that attacking fleet is totally doomed.

Layla is thinking "What the crap...we have emergency stations on this ship?!?! Avatar didn't cover those on the tour!"

And I agree with Seros - the Stilez/Avatar/Tax shot is too adorable not to have a closeup of it!

Seros Senric (Guest), February 16th, 2016, 5:46 pm

It's true that it might not be Tabitha-related... But pretty sure the only ones that actually know Stilez is on board are Sophia and Tabitha.
The quarantine message being sent by the ship doesn't mention Stilez at all, and I doubt anyone that cared saw her get on the ship at that station.

So, unless someone has managed to put a tracking device on either Stilez or Tax (and somehow had it remain functional) or Sophia told someone (which isn't something I think she'd do - she's one of the few people that knows that Ichabod isn't actually in danger from Stilez) I think this event would have to either be related to Tabitha or be a random event completely unrelated to Stilez being on the ship.

Something not comic-related,
I just had an ad appear that showed up in the top-left corner of the page, yet caused the entire page to be unresponsive. I had to reload for it to disappear and be able to scroll down.

Ed8, February 16th, 2016, 6:58 pm

@Seros Senric: Militaries and governments across the Galaxy probably devote billions of space-dollars a year just towards teams of professional Stilezologists who are devoted to monitoring and tracking the location of Stilez. (Maybe Tabitha is just doing research towards her Stilezology degree?)

I tried Firefox, Chrome, and IE and didn't see any unusual ad activity. Who was the ad for?

Seros Senric (Guest), February 16th, 2016, 7:51 pm

I'm not sure who the ad was for. It said "rollover to play"

It doesn't seem to come up very often, but when it does it prevents scrolling for some reason.
Next time I see it I'll try and take more notice of details other than "blocks scrolling" and "uses an iframe"

OK, so after going through a few dozen pages or more, I got the ad again.
The ad was a trailer for buying a movie on dvd or bluray or something.

I think the actual ad domains include s.acexedge.com and playtime.tubemogul.com
So, Blitz, if you can figure out how to remove those, it'd be nice.
Meanwhile, I'll try and make my adblocker block them even on whitelisted sites.

Blitzkrieg1701, February 17th, 2016, 1:27 am

Huh, that's weird. It must be something SmackJeeves itself is doing, 'cos that's sure not one of mine, and Project Wonderful doesn't support ads like what you're describing.

I checked the forums, and apparently other people have already reported this problem, so hopefully the admins will take that those ads out of circulation. There IS a quick way to remove the problem altogether, though: make a SmackJeeves account! The site only slaps ads onto the page if you're viewing as a guest. If you're logged in, they all vanish (except for MY ad, which is down on the bottom where you can ignore it)
