Well, this was kind of... weird and embarrassing. I sat down to work on today's page, and... well... I had nothing. I had absolutely NO idea what today's page was going to be. Oh, I've got plenty more material for the rest of this arc, that's no problem. But I'd somehow completely forgotten any kind of transitional page to get us TO all that stuff. And I spent HOURS trying to come up with something, ANYTHING to fit the bill. Eventually, I just... started drawing. No actual joke in mind, no plan, just random doodling. And somehow, THIS is what occurred. Terrifying mutant food bugs.

Also, now that I used the "Bread and Butterflies" gag, I'll have the Golden Afternoon song from Alice in Wonderland stuck in my head all day.

Oh, and despite my utter failure to plan ahead regarding the main comic, I've got some astonishing news! I ACTUALLY GOT TODAY'S VOTING INCENTIVE FINISHED ON TIME!!!

EDIT: It's been rightly pointed out that the Character Profiles have been HORRIFICALLY out of date for a very long time. Yeah, I take forever to update anything. But it just dawned on me that, technically, the profiles themselves have been done for AGES already. The hold up has been the new characters to go WITH the profiles, since, you know, it doesn't do much good to look up information on a character you don't know the name of if there's no picture to go with it. Still, incomplete information is probably better than no information at all, so I've gone ahead and put some text-only versions of the pages up. So go check it out and see just how many frickin' characters are in this thing at this point!

@ Comic: Yes, yes she did. Tax is an expert of doing stuff in two seconds while you're distracted. Not sure how the bread "wings" are holding onto the "deaths head", but it seems to work.

@ Incentive: Even better! Dress Dr. Jarre as someone being punched in the crotch by Avatar. (Is Dr. Jarre the one who made the Kitty Brain Powered Transmogrification Device, or the one who claimed Avatar was the missing Princess?) (...ok, she could also be one of the Mad Scientist Convention Organisers, but from my memory, they both had visible eyes, instead of wearing sunglasses).

If only the cast page were updated more...
@Darius - You're thinking of Dr Vanderslice, Layla's blue boyfriend who responsibly powered his Mad Science with all natural, organic, non-GMO, carbon-neutral Kitten Brains. Dr. Jarre aka Top Hat Lady is known for invention of the SAND aka Super Apocalypse Nightmare Device aka the Galaxy's Most Deadly Popcorn Maker aka thing that swallowed Avatar's head. and yes she's kind of sorta a little bit very obsessed with the idea that Avatar is Princess Rheiko. She and Tabitha could hold meetings of the obsessed-with-Avatar fangirl club.

@Tax: I'm reasonably sure that the official rules for playing Dueling Spines do not include making pizza-bread-bugs. But I could be wrong, it's been a while since I've played.

@Incentive: I am disappointed in you, Tabitha. You totally missed an opportunity with the Leprechaun theme to make a extremely-suggestive-sounding-but-in-reality-completely-innocent comment about "getting lucky" with Dr. Jarre.

You know, I actually WAS wondering if anyone might have forgotten who Dr. Jarre was after all this time. Looks like I need to listen to my doubts more!

@ Blitz & Number 6: Those few Mad Scientists aren't important enough to the story for me to have bothered to remember their names and/or appearances. Besides which, I did remember who she was, just not which one of the two she was. Read my first set of brackets again, I'm asking if Dr Jarre was (who Number 6 pointed out was) Dr Vanderslice, or if she's the one who came up and claimed Avatar was Princess Rheiko. The second of which WAS Dr Jarre.

Hmmmmmm....almost kinda sorta revealed some hint of Avatar's age there, but not really. I think this is the first time that it's really officially established that she doesn't think of herself as a kid at all, despite appearances. Of course we know that she's older, but kind of implies that she's significantly older, rather than just a bit older than her appearance. She could still be very old and think of herself as a kid though, but it seems not. Personally, I think of her as being hundreds of years old at the very least, just because of the ridiculous improbability of randomly being run into by a ship while floating in the vastness of space, she had to have been out there a very very very long time. Still, in traditional Blitz fashion, this actually commits to nothing regarding her age, but it is at least sort of a hint. I'm always happy for any tidbit of Avatar related information, no matter how small. I guess I'll have to join that Obsessed-with-Avatar club with Dr. Jarre and Tabitha. ;)

Edit: And there's new character profiles too! It's like an early Christmas! Characters actually have middle & last names now! :D
