Well THIS was annoying. Since there's only so many ways a guy can draw one person in a chair talking to a person on a screen, I wanted to do something different with this page. Sort of an abstract thing of shapes and pastels and general 80s thing behind all the text bubbles... which is NOT what you're seeing here. No, the original draft was so badly botched that even after HOURS of trying to edit it into shape, I finally had to just give up and start over from scratch. So if this page doesn't look like one that should have taken THIS long to finish... it's cos the stuff you're actually seeing DIDN'T take this long. See, this is why I usually just draw cute characters making funny faces.

But at least I got a new Voting Incentive done in the meantime... which I nearly ALSO had to redraw from scratch, but for different, Mantaining-An-All-Ages-Raiting-Related reasons.

Recycling hovertext comments from strip#757, I see ;)

If Mariska wants to characterize this as just "removing a cat" she is welcome to try to attempt removing this particular little kitty! I think she will find this cat a bit more difficult than a holy war in an interdimensional Tribble wrestling bananna realm. Though to be honest I'm not exactly sure what level of difficulty would be associated with that. (More difficult than finding a dozen ways to NOT mention Ichabod's girlfriend's name in a conversation about her?)

Maintaining-An-All-Ages-Rating-Related-Voting-Incentive: Random Coincidental 'Lens Flare'! It works for Anime, right? :P

Darn it, I THOUGHT that felt like a joke I'd used before, but couldn't remember where.

@ Comic: ...Trigger's in Mariska's target range, isn't he?

@ Incentive: Trigger, just start taking forks in with you. And, seriously, don't you know how long and thick your messy hair is?

Blitzkrieg1701, August 31st, 2016, 9:08 am

I choose to believe that Trigger's underground bunker had a super powerful garbage disposal-type thing in the drain to make sure it'd never, every get clogged up or require maintenance. He probably just never had to think about drains getting clogged from his shedding everyplace until he came aboard this ship.

(That, or Layla just cleaned the drain out all the time without telling him, because that's the sort of thing she does for him)

@Blitz: I don't know - that sounds more like a Nannybot's job than something Princess Layla would do, even for Trigger. Kinda gross for her. Or maybe the bunker just had something like a "sonic shower" instead of water based. Because The Future!

@Darius: Regarding Mariska/Trigger: Ewww! (If you're implying what I think you're implying about the nature of her prior legal issues with boyfriends) I would much rather assume she just liked to date shady/criminal type guys. Like that Disonar deKatner guy, except unlike Astrid she would be aware of the shady background.

@Blitz: Don't create a Nitpicker Army and then expect to get away with reusing jokes while we're on duty! :)

Blitzkrieg1701, August 31st, 2016, 9:36 pm

For argument's sake, one could claim that A. Trigger cannibalized so many of the nannybots as part of this sabotage training that Layla had to gradually do more and more of their work, or B. Layla's such an over-protective mother hen where Trigger's concerned that she did a lot of stuff she didn't have to, just to be sure it got done RIGHT.

Also, all I'll say about Mariska is that I'm deliberately trying to mislead you :D

Isn't it cool
In pink?

I still can't understand why anyone would want to remove a super-adorable hot catgirl and her super-adorable puppy sidekick from their ship anyway. OK, maybe I can see why the Cap'n would want to, since he gets no additional business and sustains damage to his ship, but he could just charge it to Ichabod's account. (Or maybe that's what Ichabod is really afraid of - THE BILL) Still, catgirls are worth the extra expense they cause. ;)

@Blitz: First Rule of trying to mislead us: Don't tell us that you're trying to mislead us! :)
Unless...maybe that statement is the one meant to be misleading, in order to trick us into ignoring obvious clues?!
Or...maybe you actually are trying to mislead us, but trying to trick us into thinking you aren't by saying that you are, knowing how suspicious we would be of such a statement!
Very devious indeed!

Also: Don't forget to add Mariska to the cast page! (Not that you would ever wait years and years before adding a character)
