HOLY CRAP! I actually got an extra page of Far Out There done before leaving for AWA! Hopefully this bodes well for the Conventional Wisdom update, seeing as how I'll be needed to get that AND a new batch of Far Out There pages finished before I head out to AUSA. Cross your fingers, folks.

Speaking of scrambling to finish things, I wish I'd had more time to redraw the first two panels of this page. There really should have been more of a big establishing shot panel showing the mostly-empty dining hall. Not only would it have set the "early next morning" vibe better, but there would have been room to write some wacky, made up foods on the vending machines (which I had to leave as blank boxes in the background here). Drat.

And while we're on the topic, I'm once again not sure if there's a new Voting Incentive when you read this or not. I mean, I'll have been back for over a day by the time this page goes live, so I HOPE there'll be a new one. But I'm writing this a whole week in advance, so your guess is as good as mine right now. Actually, no. Your guess is better, because YOU can just go vote right away and see for yourself.

EDIT: Oh for the love of... well, apparently after setting Friday's page to go up late, I set this one to go up EARLY. I'm sure I could just hide it again for another day... but nah, the world needs to see the proof of my towering incompetence. Enjoy your early page! ...though it DOES mean my mad plan to draw a new Voting Incentive before this page went live is now dashed. Ehh, I'm pretty sure that was doomed anyway. I am VERY tired right now...

@ Blitz: You know, I read Conventional Wisdom. And I have to say, given what you have stated in past Conventional Wisdom's, this does not bode well for the Conventional Wisdom update. Not that it bodes badly, either. If you were actually well ahead for Far Out There, then it would bode disaster, but only one page implies that you'll either have too much fun and forget/put off comic related duties, or a small issue that would have happened anyway would occur and that will cause update problems. Either way, this one page of preparation won't have much of an effect (beyond you either getting an extra hour or two of sleep or the con... with you probably taking the extra hour or two of the con).

Believe it or not, I actually got a TON of comic work done at the con, so finishing the update by this weekend is actually still a possibility!

...it's getting everything ready for Anime USA AFTERWARDS that we really need to worry about...

@ Ah, there's another con coming up close to the first! That explains it. Anime USA's going to throw you for a loop, or at least enough for you to complain about it in the comic! It just wouldn't be Conventional Wisdom if you didn't have a comic complaining about comic deadlines.

I know, right? And it gets better: not only is there a second con, but I actually have an Artist Alley table for that one, and that ALWAYS messes me up for a few weeks.

Mmmmmmm...Cow sticks! Yum! I love those!

@Blitz: If your being way behind and rushed somehow results in us getting strips EARLY, then I'm afraid I'm going to have to be in favor of it.

@Blip: Is Blip actually being useful? Shocking!

@Ichabod: You're trying too hard. If all you need is to find people who deserve it to point Stilez at, regardless of any connection to arms dealing, it's not that hard to find a random group of Evil people. Really it's not. Not even a little bit difficult. They're all over the place. Unfortunately.
Heck, just point her at whoever is crippling all those poor orphans!

Darius Drake (Guest), October 5th, 2016, 7:41 am

@ Ed8 on @ Blitz: The problem is that it results in Blitz not getting enough sleep and us being lucky to get "filler" strips due to that lack of sleep. Not that I would blame him, real life does come before giving random people in random parts of the world free entertainment over the internet.

@ Ed8 on @Blip: Blip's often useful. It's just that he's also just as regularly annoying or a distraction.

@ Ed8 on @Ichabod: Unfortunately, Stilez is probably responsible for some of them, just from accidental collateral damage. And there's "Evil People" and "Evil People who deserve Stilez's Wrath being pointed at them". People like many/most Mad Scientists probably aren't on Ichabod's "to-hit" list. Sure, they're evil, but more in an annoying fashion that harms themselves as much as anyone else.

Ed8, October 6th, 2016, 6:54 pm

@Darius on @Blitz- This the Internet, we unreasonably demand our awesome free stuff and we want it yesterday, darn it! ;)

@Darius on @Ichabod - "Evil people who deserve Stilez's Wrath" really aren't that difficult to find either. There's still a lot of them, unless people in the distant future are of a far higher quality than they are today, which does not at all seem to be the case based on what we've seen of galactic culture so far (Gright, Magento Suicide pies, Jehytko royal massacre, stealth death weapons, Arms-Dealer-con, the fact that someone made Stilez in the first place, etc, etc.) Regarding Stilez likely responsibility for creating rafts of orphans, I put all that responsibility on the heads of whoever created her. Stilez, being an artificial creation, cannot be held responsible for pre-programmed combat directives being triggered. Plus, mostly, she's adorable, so I don't want her to be responsible for any orphans. :(

Darius Drake (Guest), October 7th, 2016, 12:45 am

@ Ed8 on "Evil People Deserving Stilez's Wrath": We'll have to agree to disagree. Because while I do agree that those people deserve Stilez's attention, many of them don't deserve Stilez's WRATH. My view on the difference is, basically, it's the difference between deserving to have half your men put into intensive care and your place of operations destroyed, verses having most of your men's head ripped off, half the planet destroyed and whatever's left of you being able to be scooped into a coffee cup. A small one.

Another way of explaining the difference between Stilez's Attention and Stilez's Wrath is the difference between suffering a powerful explosive's blast (maybe even to the degree of a nuke), and suffering God's Wrath on you and your fellow man.
