That shout-out to Conventional Wisdom would make a lot more sense if I'd finally finished the Anime USA update and was thus hyping that... but alas, it is NOT finished, making this little cross-reference largely pointless. Whoops.

Anyway, now we KNOW all this is starting to get to Layla, cos I'm having to break out the red gradients. Beware!

So, once AGAIN, Photobucket decided to do some maintenance right as I was supposed to do an update. Thus, today's New Voting Incentive is on a different image host, which I HOPE will be working for everyone. (I meant what I said about experimenting with some news ways of hosting the Incentives, I just need to have time to actually DO those experiments)

Glad to see you using Ed8's suggestion from the last page, but I feel like you meant "spacial" rather than "special" in that first speech bubble.
(Also, I think Avatar knows where to find what Tabitha's looking for. She just knows it's best not to say anything)

And Tabitha, I realise that mad scientists tend not to be so good at the whole "observation" part of the science skill-set, but you should really pay attention to Layla's eyes here.

Incentive:
When Bridget dresses up to play Godzilla, I'm betting the model town she can stomp through is created with incredible detail, down to each individual room in the buildings.

Not that I'm trying to tell you how to administer your own mascots, but are you sure Yoink should be hosting that show? Reusing your own material doesn't really count as plagiarism, it seems like more of Scribbles territory, in that it implies an inability to think up new jokes. Yoink, on the other hand, could more appropriately host the next show: "How to borrow material from the commenters on your previous webcomic page" ;)

I still want to see Layla's reaction to Stilez having the Layla hairdo. Tabitha could also give Stilez a shirt that says "NO" to complete the effect.

@Incentive - Wins most adorable monster to ever destroy Tokyo award.

Edit: Darn it! I got sniped by Seros! I totally typed mine first! :) ---"Special" distortions are the hardest kind to shield against---

Yoink's name/role has gotten a little weird over the years, because she was created to lampshade something I don't actually do that often anymore. Like most of the mascots, Yoink originates in the homework-based comics I drew while I was in college. Every day I'd come up with some kind of comic based on the previous night's readings, and sometimes the joke would just be me being reminded of something else entirely. You know when you're watching somebody's Youtube review and it cuts to a clip from something else entirely? Basically that, except I was drawing the "clip" myself. Eventually, it sank in that I was spending my time and energy to TELLING SOMEONE ELSE'S JOKE, so I invented Yoink to put SOME kind of personal spin on the gags. As I said, though, I don't directly lift whole jokes from other sources much anymore (I mixup and disguise all my theft, it's called "being creative") so Yoink doesn't have much actual "plagiarism" to address anymore. The closest I can give her is when I rip off MYSELF... though now that you mention it, the "ripping off reader comments" idea WOULD have been great, if I could think of a less blatantly-fourth-wall-breaking way to do it :)

BTW, I don't think repeating the same joke quite qualifies as Scribbles material, because there's still SOME kind of joke being told. Scribbles is for when I've literally got NOTHING.

@ Blitz: Make that incentive a normal children's toy set, particularly due to the patent on that being WELL expired at the current time of the FOT Universe. So out of patent, they don't even remember the original name, and any likeliness to Tokyo in the designs is due to being part of a "Major Cities of the Mythical Historical Planet Earth".

Unless, of course, Earth is still around and somewhere people live in the story. It's existence has never really been brought up.

Blitzkrieg1701, November 6th, 2016, 1:51 am

The current state/existence of Earth is another one of those things I'm specifically trying to avoid mentioning. At least, not until I actually have a plan that would require it (don't wanna just say the first thing that comes to mind, then have to retcon it years later when I get an ACTUAL idea)

Seros Senric (Guest), November 6th, 2016, 4:03 am

Concerning Earth, my "most likely" theory is that Earth is considered important and influential... but the story takes place far enough away from Earth that that doesn't actually matter.

Darius Drake (Guest), November 6th, 2016, 4:23 am

@ Blitz: Yeah, that's understandable. However, to make that a common children's toy, you don't need to bring up Earth. "It's the Destructo Dino Set 21X31A! Design your own city, JUST TO TEAR IT DOWN! Fun for all ages!"
