Well THIS is embarrassing. After cranking out a TON of other stuff yesterday, I really needed to take a quick nap before getting to work on this page, and... well, I'm posting a half-finished page at 2pm, so I think you can guess how THAT turned out. I guess my schedule for this entire month just caught up with me all at once or something. Obviously, I'll replace this with a finished, colored in version before tomorrow's page goes up. Sorry, gang!

Anyway, a few things: first, you may recall me mentioning in the comments of Marika's debut pages that she'd trained with Ichabod under a pair of married Nitpickers, but now it's canon! Also, those of you with good memories (or at least a habit of browsing the archives) will realize that we've actually seen these two in Christmas pages before, we just didn't have any idea who they were yet.

Also, with all of Layla's "old man" cracks, I feel the need to point out again that, really, Ichabod ain't that old. He's, like, in his mid-forties at the absolute MOST. But then, it's been established that Layla's parents married ridiculously young (I'm pretty sure they'd already had Layla when they were whatever age she is now) so her definition of "old person" is kind of warped.

I recall that they were trained by a married couple, but I'm pretty sure this is the first time a name was associated with them.
Learning more is good!

Christmas isn't an excuse to stop nitpicking, so...

"immersive process with NOT vacations"
- NOT should be NO

Ichabod should know not to use "me" first, instead of "me and Mariska" it should be "Mariska and I".

And in alt/title text, you use "site" instead of "cite"

Not nitpicky, but for some reason I liked how the word "present" was used in two different meanings in that speech bubble near the top.

@Seros: Since your comment does present us with at least two errors present in the present strip, you deserve a present.

@Ichabod - No they don't count, partially because they're too easy/obvious (people would have been pointing out those same errors for hundreds of thousands of years by then), but also because one might argue that the scene as usually displayed is a standardized icon rather than being intended as a historical recreation, and is therefore historically inaccurate, but not technically in error in that it resembles every other standard Nativity scene icon. I suppose somewhat like a typical Santa Claus bears little resemblance to 4th-century Nicholas, Bishop of Myra - it's not really supposed to, so it's not an error, just inaccurate.

@Blitz-"I'm pretty sure they'd already had Layla when they were whatever age she is now" Wow, even when you nail down someone's age, you still refuse to nail down someone's age! :)

@Ichabod's age - I wouldn't think he could even be in his 40s - his mentors didn't look any older in the "present day" previous Christmas specials than they do in the "past" and Mr. Rumstad's beard hasn't even gone from grey to white yet, so it can't be that long. Unless he dyes his beard grey now? I'm thinking Ichabod is 33-36. He's got to be about 10(??) years older than in TKSODD, but he was still young enough then to be an action hero. Still "ancient" to Layla, since ancient to any kid = "as old or older than my parents", but I can certainly see why Pattie would elope at the first opportunity with Eric, and why he would feel like he had to get her out of that place. Ugh.

When I was Layla's age, I thought that mid-forties was "old". Now that I'm 55, I can say to Icabod: "You've got nothin' on me, kid!"
