Well, THIS was pretty much inevitable, wasn't it? Heck, I don't even think Trigger had time to go find Layla and tell her what happened. Layla's Trigger Sense probably started tingling and she just magically appeared in a cloud of rage.

So, I actually did get a new Voting Incentive done ahead of the page this time... which is kind of a miracle considering how badly the Conventional Wisdom update is dragging. I've decided to try spreading this year's MAGFest update out across a few weeks. Later this week I'll post the pages already finish in one batch, and next week I post what I've finished since then and so forth. I don't really like stretching out an update that much, but at the current rate (and given how much material I'm working with) it's the only way to get SOMETHING online while MAGFest is still fresh in people's memory. But the good news for Far Out There is that these bite-sized updates probably won't wear me down quite as much as a normal sized Conventional Wisdom update does. Thus, I don't THINK there'll be any more half-finished pages or missing Voting Incentives in the midst of it all. And if nothing else, THAT'S good news, right?

Trigger crying functions as the 2nd level spell "Summon Layla".

Bridget still wasn't interested until she saw the box was almost as tall as she was.

Ed8, January 17th, 2017, 2:45 pm

@Seros: Can you really summon such a powerful demon with only a 2nd level spell?

@Incentive: She's probably assuming she will be able to spar with the Mecharheiko but it's actually not that good at combat. For some reason I think Bridget is one of those kids who ends up breaking every toy she gets very quickly.

@Tabitha: "Something bad" is about to be done to you. Very, very bad.

And then Layla spontaneously exploded, destroying everything on the ship. Except Avatar.

Seros Senric (Guest), January 17th, 2017, 3:17 pm

Yes, because usually she's angry at you. Meaning it's effectively a suicide spell (unless you're Avatar).
Best case scenario, she ignores you in favour of comforting Trigger.

Also "everything dies except Avatar", although being a common "joke" around these parts, is possibly not nearly common enough.

Ed8, January 17th, 2017, 4:03 pm

@seros: In the distant future, "Everything dies except Avatar" will be a highly popular galactic-internet meme (especially among Mad Scientists, who are more likely to be discussing acts of mass destruction anyway).

Avatar will not be amused by this.

Since this doesn't seem to allow me to include images in comments, I've added one on the forum in the PseudoRandom Stuff thread.

Behold the power of a registered Smackjeeves user!
Wait...we have a forum?
(Just kidding because Blitz used to heavily promote the forum)

Yes, that is *exactly* the expression Avatar will have when she finds out about the meme.

If you register with Smackjeeves, it will let you post links to pictures (but not the picture itself). I don't think you can with "guest" posts.

Behold the power of Edits!

Ed8, January 17th, 2017, 7:57 pm

I should have known
Hmmmm...it would never let me post links as a guest. Must just be me. :(

(Neither your posted link nor mine actually works, at least when I click on it - says I don't have permission to access that file. Probably also just me.)

Seros Senric (Guest), January 17th, 2017, 8:00 pm

But really, I guess I was was more complaining that it's an image that really would be better if it could be directly embedded in a comment.

Also, I figured it wouldn't get lost as quickly on the forum.

Concerning the link not working... might be one of the theft protection things still being on a default setting. I'll look into it.

Ed8, January 17th, 2017, 8:18 pm

@Seros: That would be a cool feature! There's probably a plugin that's needed or a setting somewhere. I never found anywhere that said that Smackjeeves itself forbids it. Since Blitz hardly has anything else to do, I expect he will need to get right on that. ;)

Seros Senric (Guest), January 18th, 2017, 3:21 am

Smackjeeves might not forbid it, but I also can't recall a Smackjeeves comic that supports it.

Mixed feelings, I've seen comics that do support images in the comments have both images that make good responses, as well as them causing things that are (in my opinion) way worse than you can reliably do with just text.

Our little community seems fine though, so I think it should be fine here.

All the cool kids use forums these days
@Seros: So as not to be left out, I have now posted a thing in the forum also in the PseudoRandom Stuff thread. I am now officially a "forum user" with all the perks and privileges that apply therewith. Whatever those are.

Seros Senric (Guest), January 19th, 2017, 1:50 am

Yay for forum userness!

Also, it's all 3D and stuff!
...At least, I assume it is.

Ed8, January 19th, 2017, 7:29 pm

600x cheaper than an Oculus Rift
@Seros: What, you don't have your 1960s-era red-blue 3D glasses on you at all times? For shame! :p
