Just a quick reminder (cos it's been a while) that Ichabod was already suspicious of Tax before we'd actually seen her do anything out of the ordinary... That is, more out of the ordinary than hanging around with a towering feline destruction machine already was.

Also, another quick reminder that there was a special April Fools page that went up Saturday... and despite the nature of that day, there's actually a number of glimpses into Far Out There's real future to be seen, so you'd probably better check it out if you haven't already!

And, of course, don't forget the new Voting Incentive!

EDIT: reposted since I was too sleepy to notice the bottom of the page had been cropped off the first time around. Whoops!

Last canon page, in the comments Blitz said that it is generally a good idea to go for less obvious explanations concerning Tax...
So, obviously, Ichabod can remote-control Tax whenever he wants. He deliberately makes his 'theories' about Tax sound unbelievable so nobody (specifically Sophia) realises what he's doing.
(And we all know that Ichabod can tell what's happening around him without having to observe it directly)

Avatar's possibly thinking something like:
"Yay, I'm finally away from those mad scientists the ship got filled with. Wait a second, did I remember my tether? Meh, who cares. The cosmic background radiation feels good today."

Even if she did drift off without a rope, she'd know Cap'n Crosby would come back and find her no matter what. :)
