Random Fact: the shape of that ship was inspired by the shape of my ceiling fan's shadow. There might be one person out there who finds that interesting.

Okay, I'm bored with constant pink/purple pastels. Time to spice things up a bit. Also, HOLOGRAMS! ...which I kind of messed up. I wanted the blocks of text Ichabod's reading to be seen both from behind and through the ship's image to add to the 3D effect. It kind of works in that sense... but all the lines interfering with each other means I had to DRASTICALLY scale back on the number of security warnings Ichabod was suddenly confronted with. I wanted there to be, like, a whole wall of them, each more crazy sounding than the last. "Optic nerves that have perceived this hologram without proper authorization will be subject to immediate seizure. " That kind of thing. Oh well...

And since glowy colorful lines are the kind of thing I usually reserve for Incentives, New Voting Incentive! ...which ironically does NOT involve glowy colorful lines for once. Weird how that works out.

Speaking of Incentives, though, I swapped out some of the ones in TWC's Like It or Hate It voting thing. They aren't ALL new (I left the ones that got the most votes last month), but a lot of them are. Also, those Incentives seem to expire at the end of every month, and the users have to manually reinstate the ones they want to show up again. Why do you care about that? Well, a lot of people apparently forget to do this for a few days, meaning there's not very many active Incentives to vote on right now... OTHER THAN MINE, MWAHAHAHAHA!!! So, if you just wanna see which new things I added in a very short amount of time, now's the best chance to do it!

My goodness!
You're nearly in the top 50 on TWC! Other people's laziness is really working out for you! Also, I am now trying to imagine your ceiling fan...

Edit: 45th on TWC, with a little help from me finally signing up there.

Edit edit: I saw Far Out There reach 36th... Briefly.

I actually saw it in the low teens at around, like, two in the morning (when there was literally only 3 other comics live on TWC at the time)

So, rather than them stopping the ship with their own, it's probably better to get Trigger to hack their ship to return home. Because Trigger is a Mechanical Dues Ex Machina. You can even get Tabitha to help.

@ Incentive: I actually saw that one before this page went up. I commented on it on the last page.

@Blitz - I've seen it as high as 6th (!) I think last month or maybe the month before. The key is to get every single reader to log in to vote at 3:00:01 AM (EST) on the 1st.

Regarding the Like/Hate incentives - it looks like every incentive from any given strip has about the same number of votes, which means everybody else does just what I do - vote Like on every pic from the one strip I like, and "skip" on every other strip. Probably because only diehard fans of any given strip are going to spend their time paging through hundreds of pics every day in the first place. The result is: it probably doesn't matter which pics anybody posts - their fans will upvote them and everybody else won't, even if they actually like them. Which, of course, defeats the whole purpose of introducing people to new strips....

@Giant Ship - Layla sees it and says she used to have one just like that when she was rich. Before *somebody* got her fired. *glares at the nitpicker* She may be exaggerating. But only a little.

@Darius - (responding to comment on current incentive you posted on previous strip) I agree it could only be from Tabitha. Besides, nobody but Tabitha would think that Stilez, Destroyer of Worlds, Bane of Humanity, Scourge of Civilization...would make a really cute plushie.

also: I see that THERE IS ACTUALLY A VOTE INCENTIVE ON CONVENTIONAL WISDOM?!?!?! Is this a sign of the Apocalypse?

I've definitely noticed a bit of a hierarchy in terms of which pics get the most votes (bigger fanbase = more votes) but in a way, I think that's a sign of the system working. I mean, it's obviously doubtful that any comics are picking up new fans this way (otherwise the votes would be more evenly dispersed) but this DOES mean that comics with a smaller but more dedicated fanbase are being rewarded in a way comeics with large but casual readership aren't. After all, taking the time to cycle through dozens of Incentives to find the ones you like takes a LOT more dedication than just clicking once and immediately seeing what you wanted. Right?

I suppose that makes sense, considering that webcomicers have to bribe people with additional free art incentives just to get them to make two clicks to vote regularly, and even then only a fraction of people vote, I guess they'd really have to be some crazy fanatical nuts, um, cough cough...I meant to say dedicated supporters to click through all that. :)
