Dang it, I was SO sure this would be the page where I finally got back to posting at around midnight. I had a nice headstart on writing it, and I even got up good and early Monday morning to give myself extra working time. Alas, waking up early usually means falling asleep early, so I tried to avoid getting groggy before the page was done by going ahead and taking a little nap in the afternoon... which managed to last a good five hours longer than expected. So when I finally did wake up, all that "head start" nonsense had turned into running late again. Oh, and it turned out I'd fallen asleep in a REALLY weird position that left my drawing arm all numb, so I also had to wait for THAT to resolve itself before I could get any meaningful work done. AND THEN I had to drastically rework a lot of that writing I was so happy to have done in advance because, well, it just wasn't very funny.

The original idea was for all that technobabble on the left to be verbatim quotes from famous scifi franchises, and there's still some traces of that to be found, I guess. However, I got so into the meta-joke of quoting things that the ACTUAL joke of Tabitha & Trigger getting waaaay too caught up in their wacky science ideas kind of got lost. So, even after all the art was done, I still had to spend ages rewriting made-up science words until the gradual decent from harmless to insane at least somewhat obvious. In fact, now that I think about it, having them out of frame for this page was probably a mistake. If we could actually SEE them getting more and more worked up and hyper, the expressions would probably have helped sell the dialog a lot more. Oh well, too late for that now.

It is NOT too late for the new Voting Incentive though. If nothing else, at least THAT really did get finished ahead of schedule!

@ Incentive: Did... did Jenna just hit the side of the Guitar and manage to get a proper note? That's impressive. Not sure if it's Jenna being impressive, or the person who made that guitar, though.

Blitzkrieg1701, August 29th, 2017, 12:39 pm

That's nothing. The REAL impressive thing is that she managed to get a tone of any sort out of a guitar that appears to have no strings.

@Blitz: This is the FUTURE, we don't need no stinkin' strings! (Virtual strings break less anyway)

@DD: Future musical instruments probably come with a built-in "autotune" so no matter if you hit them randomly they produce good music. It just may not be the music you were trying to produce.

@Ichabod: Don't worry, even if you accidentally kill them, Tabitha can fix that too! Everybody knows that kids are way more adorable in Zombie form anyway.

@Alt/hovertext response (top to bottom):
Trigger
Tabitha
Tabitha
Trigger
Tabitha
Trigger
Based on which one of the two seemed more Sabotage-y (breaking some part of the ship's systems) than the other being the one Trigger says.

@Nitpick: Panel 2: Are we sure that human hips even have a resonant frequency?

Blitzkrieg1701, August 29th, 2017, 4:54 pm

...you know what? I'm leaving that typo in. That's actually a lot funnier than what I was trying to write :)

We all know that whatever plans they come up with to keep them away from Stilez (much more important than vice-versa) are doomed to failure.
And, after some hilarious antics, it'll end up with Tax saving the day while everyone else is distracted, leaving only Mariska suspecting something and coming to the conclusion that maybe Ichabod's conspiracy theories about Tax aren't so far out there after all...

Also, poor Layla in that top panel.

Concerning who said what, I agree with Ed8.
(Mwahaha! Take that title text, we did not debate!)

Also, pretty sure everything has a resonance frequency. Or more than one. Though I doubt that different hips from different people would share the same frequencies.
(...this might seem weird if that typo is fixed... so fair enough for leaving it in)

Incentive:
When I saw it, I'd assumed that it was a speaker in the shape of a guitar, and Jenna hadn't realised that when she picked it up which would explain why she looks so confused - she knows enough about guitars to realise that they aren't meant to simply play complete music tracks on their own.

Darius Drake (Guest), August 29th, 2017, 6:58 pm

@ Blitz Response to Me: No, no, that can be explained with Lasers. The lack of strings is due to them being replaced with invisible lasers that note finger position and where and how the "strings" are "thrummed", before producing desired notes. Which, again, makes her hitting the side of the thing and producing a recognizable note impressive.
