Ahhh, more fun with light and color. And size. I was trying to go for sort of a Corbomite Maneuver moment here, and all things considered, I guess it worked out pretty well.

Anyway, I don't have a lot else to say about this page... mostly because I'm still getting over FINALLY finishing the last big Conventional Wisdom update of the year. Now that THAT'S out of the way, I have until MAGFest to... scramble to catch up on Patreon stuff and get as much of a head start as I can on this year's Christmas comics... yeah, I'd better go ahead and take a nap NOW...

Oh, but don't forget today's new Voting Incentive!

Kids these days...
"Stolen by Kids" would be more impressive if Layla weren't almost the head of a Major Criminal Syndicate and Mooney Paceman wasn't the trillionaire head of a major industrial corporation of some sort. Not to mention the fact that said Supership was just bricked by a couple of kids after a few hours of tinkering with whatever parts they had on hand. Kids these days are setting the achievement bar pretty high.

Vashti doesn't pay you, you pay Vashti!
@Incentive - More likely, the design firm didn't get paid anything at all for the cover - by this point, design firms probably compete with each other for the right to pay Vashti millions to be allowed to do one of her album covers, just to be "those guys that did that Vashti album cover"

We don't know yet....
It's plausible to assume that the Exposition, which is in front of the stolen ship, is about as far away. But the stolen ship could be 10 or 100 times as far, so it's really much larger than it looks in panel 3. Who knows?

But that would imply that Far Out There is the sort of comic where statistics are left vague and unstated, and we know THAT can't be true :)

Proving Ed8 has too much time on his hands...
Unfortunately, our good author slipped up a bit way back in 2008 and made some little sketches in the margin of the Exposition's layout when Avatar was giving her tour. As a result, we can say that the Exposition, which as Layla will surely tell you is a "tiny" ship (compared to the ones she used to own), is about 200m in diameter for the globe, and roughly 500m in length, plus or minus 50%. Notwithstanding the fact that subsequent action contradicted a lot of the positioning of the locations, and they didn't account for the presence of multiple cargo bays, which when depicted appeared larger than what the entire ship ought to be.
Based on the apparent architechture of the buildings involved, we can say that the globe of the supership is in the 10-20 km diameter range, although that requires some assumptions about distant future architechtural principles.
Therefore, given the trigonometric ratios between the apparent angles of observation of the two ships from the viewers perspective, it appears that the supership is not much further away than the Exposition from the viewer.

So there.

No word yet from Layla if she considers this one a "big" ship by her standards.
