...aaaaand that's four more of the characters we glimpsed in that one April Fools comic finally making their official debut... if you don't count all the pages where people were talking about them. Or that one Voting Incentive. Either way, it'd mean a lot more if we actually knew any of their NAMES, but hey, gotta save something for when we come back from Christmas stuff, right?

Yup! It's almost that time again! Starting this Friday, Far Out There puts all the normal stuff on hold and switches over to the yearly twenty-five straight days of Christmas comics! So be sure to... tune... in... oh crap, I actually have to have enough comics finished to start doing daily updates by Thursday. I am in SO much trouble...

Oh yeah, Voting Incentive!

@ Comic: Blue is OBVIOUSLY the "ideas guy". Red could be the muscle, while Purple Hair looks to be Green Top's Protector. I wouldn't be at all surprised if Green Top's the Techie, being dragged along because the alternative is being left on his own and/or ridiculed. In other words, I see Green Top to be the most reluctant to go on these adventures, but the most important for those adventures to seem like they have a chance to succeed.

@ Incentive: Who left that pile of Xal-Gox on top of the White-Hot-Hotplate? You ruined both the hotplate and the candy!

I hardly know what to say - I've been entirely discombobulated by the bizarrely unusual earliness of this post. Who are you and what have you done with Blitz? :)

Green seems like he would enjoy spending time with Alphonse discussing things to be terrified of.

@Incentive - Nothing that unusual. Seems like just the usual Thanksgiving leftovers at the Caligari household.

@Hovertext: Admit it. If you had a landing pod, you would design the exit doorway with Dramatic Backlighting too. There's really no other reasonable choice.

To be fair....
Technically, Blue isn't wrong. Given Layla's resume as Evil Crime Syndicate heir apparent, calling her "Evildoer" is not inaccurate.

Blitzkrieg1701, November 28th, 2017, 5:16 am

DD: Well, I was trying to make these kids as archetypal as possible, I guess I succeeded!

Ed8: Personally, I'd focus more on having a lot of dry ice fog to billow out when the door opened.

Also, this page was SUPPOSED to go live at midnight, but it's been so long since I was far enough ahead of schedule to do that, I legitimately forgot how and it ended up going live immediately.

Also also, Layla's response: "Hey, I'm not an evildoer! I'm more of a... beyond good and evil... doer..."

Darius Drake (Guest), November 28th, 2017, 5:57 am

...actually...

@ Kids: Trigger's not an evildoer! He's never purposefully done anything evil. And he's saved lives just by being himself in the right place at the right time without causing mass death and/or destruction. That's more than what you four can say!

The blue one looks to be of the same species as Dr. Vanderslice (the kitten brain guy, in case I got his name wrong) which in this comic means they're likely related.

Also, smackjeeves says this page came out two days ago, which appears to be when it thinks you uploaded the file. However the comments seem to indicate yesterday evening instead. Odd.

Blitzkrieg1701, November 28th, 2017, 12:50 pm

Yeah, it always says the page went up on the date you set... even if that date had already passed at the time you put it in.

Also, slight nitpick, but the only "species" of intelligent life in Far Out There is human. It's jut that generations of cosmetic genetic engineering have resulted in strands of humanity having blue skin... or cat features... or being a head in a floating jar. (For the record, though, I made that kids eyes yellow instead of red specifically so that he'd look at least a LITTLE different from Vanderslice)

dylgramac, November 28th, 2017, 4:21 pm

@nitpick: Oh, yeah it's been so long since that came up that I forgot there aren't any aliens. Though Blip's existence (as well as robots) means there could be non-human species engineered up to the ability to talk at least.

Darius Drake (Guest), November 28th, 2017, 5:16 pm

Actually, I'm curious as to the genders of these new characters. They all can, mostly, be either gender (except Blue, as Red called him "He"). Given that Blue should be male due to that, the most likely to be female seems to be Purple Hair. Red Hair & Green Top both seem to fit more as males, though, honestly, gender bending the typical gender of positions like theirs because you can is basically a trope in and of itself.

Blitzkrieg1701, November 29th, 2017, 1:48 am

I guess this is TECHNICALLY a spoiler, but post-Christmas pages will quickly establish that the new kids are all boys. The extended cast of this comic has gotten so girl-heavy, I felt like we needed at least a few more dudes around to balance things out.

Also, it's generally accepted that, while beings like Blip may ACT like they have sentience, they aren't considered to be "alive." It's just a very convincing simulation of sentience. That, and the author of this comic isn't good enough to consistently depict their behavior as noticeably different from actual humans.

Stonefoot, November 29th, 2017, 10:49 am

Can be hard to tell.
Actual intelligent creatures don't use that intelligence a lot of the time. We just go with the default action for most situations, which is efficient because that usually _is_ the right choice.

Ed8, November 29th, 2017, 3:59 pm

All Artificially Created Creatures are not Artificially Created Equal
Of course, it goes without saying that some artifically created lifeforms are totally alive and sentient and definitely count as humans. Like, say, for example, Adorable Zombie Kids. (Adorableness=Human. This is why Avatar still counts as human, despite having no remaining OEM parts)

Of course the cast has become girl-heavy. Nothing wrong with that-It's pretty much to be expected for the Trigger Harem Anime ;)

@Date confusion - This is what I was afraid of! My previous strip comment altered the future, and now the flow of time itself has been so distorted the strip posted early! I'm really in trouble if those Timecops ever stop chasing Tax.

@Darius: regarding your @Kids remark - But if you ask them, those 4 kids would say they have saved the galaxy dozens of times (or whatever) and never caused any harm - that's the whole purpose of Mariska's huge conspiracy to make them think their amateur hero club actually is doing good. They don't know it's all fake. And now you've ruined it by telling them!

@Blitz - regarding Layla's response to being an evildoer - Aha! That's exactly what a real Evildoer would say!
