No, really. I wasn't trolling you guys yesterday. We're actually doing this.

So, I was TRYING to color Ichabod and Mariska's suits to look like Chett Chetterfield and Lance Catamaran from Southpaw Regional Wrestling. I think Ichabod got Chett's look down pretty well, but Mariska's suit kind of loses a lot without the terrible tacky patterns on everything... but that stuff is REALLY hard to do in comic form. Which is doubly disappointing because the Southpaw reference was actually my second choice. What I REALLY wanted to do was give Ichabod a bunch of medals and a crown and put Mariska in a cowboy hat and have them be a reference to Jerry Lawler and Jim Ross. Alas, both their character designs rely WAY too much on distinctive headgear, so I just couldn't make it work visually. It's too bad, 'cos I can totally see Ichabod rocking a gaudy king costume.

Also, part of me feels bad for not checking to see if there actually is an event sometime in December called "Christmas Clash" ...but on the other hand, I know for for a fact that there were at least two totally unrelated shows called "Fright Night" this Halloween. If the actual, for real promotions can't avoid stepping on each other's names, I guess there's not much point in ME worrying about it.

It actually looks like the Can of Beard and the Xal-Gol in panel 1 are supposed to be the host's drinks. With Ichabod drinking the Beard, and Mariska drinking the Xal-Gol Brain-Like-Substance-Substitute drink. AKA, almost certainly either a seasonal Candycane Milkshake or Xal-Gol flavoured Eggnog.

OK, Ichabod and Mariska must have stuffed up big time to have gotten stuck with this job :P

(Or, alternatively, they really really didn't want to have to actually be one of the wrestlers...)

@Darius Drake
They probably are meant to be the host drinks from the sponsors.
Of course, they both have bottles of water hidden just under the table for them to drink when they're thirsty and the cameras aren't on them.

Yeah, the drinks are deliberately placed as part of the cross-promotional deal. I saw this WWE pre-show thing once where Mountain Dew was the sponsor, and every single person at the desk (and there were, like, five of 'em) had a different flavor of Mountain Dew Kickstart conspicuously sitting right next to them... and some completely "natural, off the cuff" banter ensued about which flavor they liked best before anyone actually bothered to talk about the wrestling that was about to happen. The page wrote itself.

Who knew that only 2 strips in we would already be getting so much unexpected Character Development?

I am, of course, referring to long-running but mysterious FOT side character, The Can of Beard. I'm pretty sure this is the first time we've got any idea, even slightly, of what a Can of Beard contains. (I always figured it was just a name and would actually have nothing to do with beards) It may even be the first time a character has even mentioned the name, rather than it just appearing as a prop. I'm still hoping for that six month long voting incentive side story featuring the Adventures of Can of Beard to get approved by the FOT Board of Directors. For that matter, who knew that FOT even had a Board of Directors? I'm envisioning them in a shadowy, cigar-smoke-filled corporate boardroom in giant leather chairs around a huge oaken boardroom table...and the camera pans around to reveal it's actually CW Blitz & the CW Mascots.

Well, we HAVE seen the Far Out There head office before:

(It's located right down the hall from the outer limit of canon)
