They've peaked through the boundaries of fiction and know what that giant box is a reference to.

Well, so much for getting back out ahead of the page deadline. That was pretty much a doomed mission, though, since this page perfectly encapsulates why I'm not actually showing the fights. That one pin in the top panel probably took longer to draw than the whole previous week's worth of comics put together. A SUPER weird pose at a difficult angle, involving two characters with wildly different proportions all tangled up like a spandex-clad pretzel. It took a LOOOOOOOOT of erasing and redrawing to get it to where you could at least somewhat tell what's supposed to be going on... without somebody's arm being suddenly, inexplicably longer than it should be, that is.

Of course, that clearly had NO effect on the bottom-right panels, which were TOTALLY left crude and not colored in as an artistic choice to express the audience's apprehension over this sudden, gimmicky-looking object and IN NO WAY me cutting corners to get the page done a little faster. Nope. Not even a little.

Besides, if I REALLY wanted to save time, I wouldn't have done a new Voting Incentive for today... but I did! HA!

Ooh! Giant out of place Christmas present!

I wonder who will pop out.
And why they are dressed as a xal-gox with a can of beard.

Incentive:
Avatar obviously wants us all to give her a hug.
...That's what that expression means, right?

@ Seros Senric: I just responded to your reply to me on the last page.

@ Comic: Even if I don't watch Wrestling, I don't feel like that box is overly out-of-place given the theme of this wrestling event. I can even see it sitting there for an hour or more until a Wrestler, be they a Face or more likely a Heel, pops out to join and interfere with a fight.

Also, I'm honestly surprised that the "Sing Siblings" are interfering while Layla's in the ring. It seems like something they'd do for Tabitha, but not for Layla.

@Darius Drake

In my experience, giant boxes with a ribbon attached are always out of place.

And should probably have a "keep out of reach of children" sticker or something.
(although if a child sees it such a sign would likely have the opposite effect)

Also, concerning reply:
According to some of the old treatises, "stab in neck" is a valid wrestling move, and so is biting off their ear. But then.. yeah, real combat. (just in the "wrestling" section of a treatise for actual combat)

In a similar way to Mitch Hedberg's theory that Pringles originally intended to make tennis balls, I feel like maybe the factory accidentally misspelled the label for "Can of Bread" and the company just decided to roll with it.

I can remember when Layla was all modest and was reluctant to pose in fanservicey scenes even for vote incentives. I guess she got over that now ;)

Then again, due to the strip's predominately female cast, the FOT Wrestling League resembles less the WCW/WWF/ECW,etc leagues and more one of those fanservicey Lots-Of-Cute-Girls-In-Skimpy-Outfits-Wrestling-Leagues, so I guess it's kind of appropriate.
