Include a temper tantrum and this would be the most well-rounded depiction of Layla as a character ever seen.

Well, this was simultaneously exciting and frustrating. I was working on what was SUPPOSED to be today's page when I realized there was a bit of a plot hole in Layla talking about stuff the Cap'n only mentioned to Ichabod while she was out of the room. So I stuck in an extra bit of dialog to fix this little lapse... and the characters just wouldn't shut up. The exchange just got longer and longer until it'd turned into a whole page of its own, and now here we are. On the one hand, this sort of last-minute change always makes the page waaaaay later than it already was, and since I had to do the page without any rough draft I'm not too pleased with the layout. But on the other hand, I REALLY do like the dialog here. We actually don't see Layla and the Cap'n interacting very often, and it's neat to see that bring out her mercenary business sense. And what's more, I just love seeing her switch on a time between concerned big sister and evil con artist without missing a beat. You go, girl!

And speaking of girls we like to see: New Voting Incentive!

She really is evil, isn't she?

Blitzkrieg1701, March 23rd, 2018, 6:50 pm

Layla: "It's only evil if it's not true!"

True story: When I first scrolled down and saw Blitz's response above I misread it as 'Layla: "It's only evil if it's not me!"'

Which is also a plausible assertion for Layla. :)

Start with an assumed conclusion (helping cute little boys with rich parents), give reasons and alternatives that result in the conclusion needing to happen, and then give a devils-on-the-shoulder explanation onto why the assumed conclusion is good for the person who didn't want to do it.

Now how do we add the temper tantrum to the "devil on the shoulder" to this string of events, to create that most well-rounded depiction of Layla as a character ever seen?

@ Incentive: Hello name that is off of the hologram screen when it was on. How are you today?

Ed8, March 26th, 2018, 11:36 pm

@Darius @incentive - the hologram screen refuses to display her name. even mention of it is considered an ill omen. she is....
The Cat Who Must Not Be Named

(which, of course, is why you did not name her either, i assume) :)

Darius Drake (Guest), March 27th, 2018, 1:12 am

@ Ed8: No, I didn't name her due to wanting it to be a bit mysterious and get more people to check the incentive. I purposefully attempt not to put down spoilers or clear details about what's happening in the incentive comics here.
