There's probably a lot of things happening around Hiro that he doesn't understand.

WOW! A page of Far Out There that went up before noon! And it's the final draft, even! IT'S A ST. PATRICK'S DAY MIRACLE! (yes, I know that was two days ago, it's all I could think of) Granted, half the reason this is done at this early date is because I'm still not doing new Voting Incentives at the moment. I'm really, REALLY shooting to have the last of the MAGFest comics over at Conventional Wisdom finished by the end of the week, and once the deck is cleared of that, I can finally bring Far Out There back up to full speed. It's looking good so far!

And before anyone has a chance to ask: No, Hiro has NOT graduated college. I don't even know what the education system of the future looks like, but he is not out of it yet.

3/22 EDIT: Heeeeeey, so funny thing: I had to completely throw out the new page I was working because, well, it just wasn't any good. I'm starting over from scratch, and at this rate, I wouldn't count on it being done until sometime Saturday. I MIGHT be able to get a rough draft up sometime tonight, but it's not really that likely. Sorry, guys! If you could see the crappy draft I threw out, you'd understand!

For children who are still in school, they sure do seem to have a lot of free time.
I wonder if future-school can be bribed not to mark absences?

That, or future-school is based more around learning at home and setting your own pace than big classrooms and enforced schedules.

Seeing as how this is being written by somebody who was homeschooled (and had a VERY flexible schedule as a result), the odds of that being reflected in the comic are pretty high.

Obligatory Cynical Comment
so...it's worth about the same as a RL college diploma these days?

Considering that current-RL-school is available as remote-learning-at-home self-paced lessons (even through the public school system!), I think it's a safe bet that future school will be.
