Well, this was a weird experience. I'd expected this page to take a long time thanks to fiddling with all the lighting effects, and to be fair they DID take a while, but that's not the only delay that came into play here. No, this page actually had most of its dialog thrown out and replaced VERY late in the editing process. What's more, it's not that I came up with something new right on the spot. The later two thirds of the dialog here was originally meant to go on an entirely different page, but then I realized the art somehow fit that later punchline a LOT better than what was actually SUPPOSED to go here. And so, sweeping last minute change ahoy!

Oh, and sorry I never commented on it in the previous page (Animazement next week is the first convention in a WHILE that I've actually made things for, so that's been eating up a lot of time) but it really made me happy to see discussion of details like the observation deck windows. No joke, seeing people care enough to pick at little details like that absolutely makes my day. Incidentally, the in universe reasoning for being where they are will come up later, but the Real World reasons are (1.) it's more visually interesting than another white room, and (2.) I need more excuses to practice doing these colorful photoshop montage background effect things, because they're gonna come up again in much more hectic circumstances, and I don't wanna still be figuring this stuff out on top of all that.

Moving on, I mentioned last time that there was more Patreon stuff coming, and it's gradually happening! I already posted a big new blog post that, as a rare bonus, is available for everybody, and there should be a new Character Soundtrack up this weekend for $2+ patrons. Also, if you feel extra generous and want to start pledging $5 or more, there's still a new Far Out There MadLib for higher level patrons to fill out! Take the reigns and tell me what to do in a comic! You know you wanna!

Oh, and speaking of moving on, today is the very last page of Becky & Gilb Go Far Out There over on Top WebComics, so be sure to go vote and see it! I actually managed to stick the landing at an even 100 pages! The next series of Voting Incentives will be... MAYBE starting next week? I'm not sure. Given the convenient timing of the last one wrapping up, I MIGHT need to take a break from Incentives for a few days, so I can focus on getting extra comics done before Animazement. Then again, I'm toying with having the next "series" just be sneak previews of concept art for the next big plot arc, so I MIGHT already have enough stuff on hand to keep going without any interruption. I guess we'll see on Tuesday!

That's why she wins!

How about Trigger? Does he interpret this as Layla telling him to leave? Because he spends time hanging out with his "sister" regularly.

Blitzkrieg1701, May 20th, 2019, 10:45 pm

Honestly, Trigger's probably gonna be too busy looking at the pretty colors to notice anything else for at least a few more minutes.

Layla has spent basically her entire life honing the skills of how to manipulate Rich People for fun and Profit. Of course this is something she would be good at. (not that regular teenage girls aren't already instinctively good at it)
