...no, seriously, I kept wanting to wander off to get snacks the longer I worked on this. And good LORD did I work on it a long time. Yeah, in case you missed it earlier, this was SUPPOSED to be Tuesday's page until I got sick and had to push everything back to accommodate all the sudden coughing fits and feverish passing out. It also shouldn't surprise anyone that a page drawn under these circumstances require a TON of editing to clean up the art and make the layout work. That weird "boys popping up out of holes" thing wasn't planned, I don't even know WHAT I thought the plan was when I inked all this stuff. Again, feverish delirium. That's also probably why ths page largely avoids the more obvious joke of making all the foods really outlandish (though "fantastitatoes" is a pretty good one) and instead tries to do more to flesh out some finer points of the boys' personalities. The moral of today's story is that Hiro has EXTREMELY high metabolism. Actually, no. The moral is that all the kids share my habit of largely avoiding official "breakfast" food in the morning in favor of just another "real" meal. Society's constrains will NOT prevent me from eating a burrito at 9am if I so choose! And I mean a REAL burrito, not just eggs and sausage in a tortilla! FIGHT THE BREAKFAST POWER!

And speaking of "in case you missed it," not only is there more concept art for future comics as the latest TWC Voting Incentive, but since it's a new month, the Top WebComics Like It or Hate It Bonus Incentives have all reset, and I swapped out a lot of the old pictures with some new, never before seen experiments I was doing with colors and lighting and junk. By this point, most of the other comics have probably gotten around to reinstating their Incentives, so you won't be able to just vote your way through everything in five minutes like you could Saturday morning, but Far Out There would still totally benefit from any added visibility a few extra votes would throw its way!

Now... I'm hungry again. I am deeply jealous of Hiro's metabolism.

@ Incentive: Personally, seeing those advances in the field of shoulder-pads I'm hoping that it includes the ability to not be connected to shoulders at all, because those things either look clumsy, or difficult to balance.

On the field of sleeves, at least one of them appears to have a necessity of temporary sleeves when one uses their arms, and I do not know how that would work properly. The other two just need sleeves that only dangle when the arms are down, and contract to not be in the way when the arms are up.

A safe sleeve malfunction could also make grabbing hold of things VERY awkward. Hopefully, this either helps or helps set up a joke. Honestly, I half expect that you would just have never had these characters use their arms at all.

@ Comic on Hiro's Metabolism: Honestly, an extremely active person with an unusually high metabolism is not really helpful. I don't know the health effects, and hope that half the reason isn't actually his base metabolism but him being 11 and extremely active. Because having a high metabolism on top of that would mean that Hiro may need to eat half a dump truck's worth of food a day (slight exaggeration... slight).

Please note, I do not actually know much about the health of people with high metabolisms, it's just that I remember a story I was told about the volume a teacher with high metabolism ate for dinner at a High School Camp, and have been losing weight recently via diet and exercise, and know how much calories is in the food I eat and how much proper exercise can work off.

Oh yeah, I was very much assuming he's just super active all the time and burns off everything really quick.

Also, the REAL question, as with all of this preview art, is how drastically these designs will change once I actually have to draw them over and over and over again.

@ Blitz: With the latest ones, it honestly depends on how much you care if these new characters with shoulder pads are basically clothed in sheets or not. Besides, you can make it so that their singular defining characteristic is the relatively simple shoulder pads, and everything else can be changed on the fly due to advanced clothing technology.

Technology that is not trendy due to it's default form looking like sheets, the fact that it can only imitate up to two "simple" colours in "simple" designs, and a massive marketing campaign to disparage it in the eyes of users for everything but highly expensive comfort clothing.

This problem is easily solved
4 boys list their menu selections as above.

Then Layla says: "I'll have the Fried Mammal"

boy#1: "Ummmm...I decided I want Fried Mammal instead"

boy#2: "Change mine to the Fried Mammal also"

boy#3: "I've always loved Fried Mammal!!!"

boy#4: "Fried Mammal for me too! But make it Organic Free-range gluten-free non-GMO."
