Yeah, for a page that only has one panel filled in, this still too a loooong time to actually draw. Not even because it was so detail heavy (although, in it's own way, it KIND of is) but just because there's so MUCH of it. Even with copy/paste shortcuts thrown in, this was waaaay more pencil and inking and panel arranging than most pages these days require. There's a reason I mostly keep things down to two or three panels, nine is just exhausting. I mean, at least the previous page, for all its panels and coloring and what have you, THAT consisted of drawing Avatar over and over and in several cute outfits. That's its own reward.

Incidentally, while it certainly helped, the bulk of this page actually WASN'T left uncolored as a last minute shortcut. The plan was always to leave the machine-swapping process black and white, both to drive home that what we're watching isn't "really" happening and to contrast against Tabitha's daydreams in the previous page. Tabitha's mind's eye sees things all colorful and sparkly, Aavatar's sees things very start and monochrome.

And speaking of monochrome, new TWC Voting Incentive!

@ Comic: I didn't think that Cap'n Crosby restocked them by hand, no. But I did have a more... real-world method of how he restocked them. Aka, having them restocked directly mechanically, with the front changing due to future tech, while only keeping the bare minimum of necessary vending machines on the ship.

...of course, this COULD explain what is in the Mystery Room. It's a "Mystery", and locked, due to Cap'n Crosby not wanting people to mess with, or empty, the vending machines before they're properly put onto the floor.

Also, I wonder which Human Variant can eat literal metal, and finds it tastier when it's been deep fried.

At the risk of spilling spoilers all over the place, I can confirm than the extra vending machines are not what's in the Mystery Room (although the Cap'n definitely DOES NOT approve of people rooting around in the machines without permission)

@ Blitz: I seem to keep on having you give out half-spoilers or "biting my tongue" spoilers recently. Sorry about that.

Naw, it's just that we've had a looooong stretch of pages about stuff that doesn't tie into the really long-term aspects of the plot, only to suddenly have several pages in close proximity to each other that do, however indirectly. So now I'm all giddy with thoughts of "Oh yeah! Eventually THIS is gonna happen!" and want to make sure I don't ruin anything for someone else by blabbing too much.

We can extrapolate so much from that paragraph about you not trying to ruin things with your giddiness!
