Welp, if you missed it yesterday , here's the deal: I'm writing this IN THE PAST, there's lots of 4th of July family stuff going on back here, so I TRIED to get the new page done in advance to free up time, but that didn't quite happen. So here's a rough draft for now, and there should be a final, fully edited version plus a new Voting Incentive either sometime tomorrow... eer, tonight? Friday night. The final update should be up either Friday night or early Saturday morning. In the meantime, you DID see the 4th of July page yesterday, right?

Anyway, let's all take a moment to reflect on the fact that B ridget does NOT appreci ate Stilez get ting attention from Tabitha.

EDIT: Okay, final result is a colored in page but no new Voting Incentive. Everything will be back to normal next week... he said, as if stuff like this this ISN'T what's been "normal" around here for years.

Draft Version Nitpicking
panel 1 "rcan" -> "Can"

Darius Drake (Guest), July 5th, 2019, 3:19 am

@ Comic: Now I'm worried that Bridget just ruined Tabitha's plan to distract Stillez. And made it so that Stillez will go to that other room and take things from there and declare herself the "winner" of Tabitha's challenge.

Happy(?) Anniversary
10 years ago today...the last posting of the final strip of Point Me At The Sky

poor bugboy...

he's been patiently waiting all this time to find out what comes next...will he ever get to see his Magical Girl again...

Blitzkrieg1701, July 5th, 2019, 10:55 pm

WOW that icon threw me for a loop before I actually read the comment :D

I'm sure I mentioned this somewhere, maybe on a Patreon blog or something, but Point Me At The Sky was loosely inspired by an actual real life crush. Every time that real world relationship changed and cooled off, my plans for a continuation of the comic vastly changed, until I just plain didn't know how to end it anymore.

At this point, though, I'm just jealous of the days when I could actually crank out whole side comics like it was nothing...

Ed8, July 5th, 2019, 11:20 pm

I'll check back again in 2029 just in case
Ah...I see.... so bugboy isn't the only one who doesn't know what's next...even the author doesn't know!

So...bugboy doesn't end up with magical girl, but instead goes on to a career as a world-famous (universe-famous?) webcomicer who occasionally has some difficulty meeting deadlines?

Blitzkrieg1701, July 6th, 2019, 10:25 am

Gosh, I'm not sure which of those outcomes is more depressing.

Seriously, though, in the hours since I read that comment, I actually started thinking about a different way of approaching the story that MIGHT actually be a decent ending. The real question is if I'll ever find the time to actually DO it.

Ed8, July 6th, 2019, 1:32 pm

There's plenty of time for drawing another comic! Sleep isn't really a necessity! That's just what "They" want you to think! (the internet assures me that "They" are always trying to trick me, and the internet would never lie to me)

Comment actually on-topic for the current strip: It becomes increasingly difficult with each day to see Stilez as a "Terrifying Monster of Utter Carnage and Destruction" rather than an "Adorably Mischievous (albeit extraordinarily strong) Family Pet".

Blitzkrieg1701, July 6th, 2019, 1:47 pm

See, it's funny you should say that about Stilez, because soon- *SUDDEN INTENSE BITING OF TONGUE*

Ed8, July 6th, 2019, 3:16 pm

Everybody has to be good at something....
I think that after a decade+ of FOT, we commenters are just getting much better at making comments that would induce tongue biting.

@Ed8
That's because such a thing quickly becomes a favourite past-time of anyone that regularly comments here.

Darius Drake (Guest), July 7th, 2019, 12:39 am

@ Blitz, Ed8 & Seros Senric: Personally, my favourite pass-time commenting here on Far Out There is making stuff up to explain something stupid that Blitz may or may not decide is reasonable enough to be "cannon". For example, from a few pages ago:

Perfectly Generic Cube: This is a branded version of High/Low Nutrient Jelly, with each Jelly having a randomised nutritional value, but the colours indicating flavor.

Planet Pops: These are a brand of Lollipop that imitates the shape of a planet. However, this shape is not there to create an interesting eating experience, but because the "top" of the Planet Pop can come off, giving a tasty snack, before the "core", which is similar to a Jawbreaker or Gobstopper in consistency (that is to say, layers of different flavours differentiated by colour), which you can eat separately to the top & bottom, before finishing up with the bottom. Or you could just stick the entire thing in your mouth to eat as a normal layered-flavour lollipop, it's up to you.

For this page:
Soda Burger & Burger Soda are owned by competing brands, both of which own a Burger Chain and a Soda Company. Soda Burger's Owner Company makes more money off of it's Burger Chain, while Burger Soda's Owner Company makes more money off of it's Soda Business. Both make about the same amount of money overall. Soda Burger is an attempt for the Burger Chain to promote it's Soda Brand/s by making Burger's with patties that taste and look like soda can's. Meanwhile, Burger Soda is an attempt to promote it's Burger Brand by making a Soda that tastes like it's Burgers. By sheer coincidence, not only did both come out at the same time, but they also TASTE JUST LIKE EACH OTHER. This resulted in a double lawsuit, with each suing the other, over intellectual property theft that is still ongoing due to neither side willing to back down and there not being any evidence of any intellectual property theft.

Ed8, July 7th, 2019, 1:15 am

I read on the Space-Internet that Soda Burger and Burger Soda are secretly owned by the same company and were both formed to fully squeeze as much profit as possible out of burger&soda consuming customers by faking brand competition, the lawsuit is all just for show, and their products are both made in the same factory by MegaChemCo, Inc.

But that's just Space-Internet conspiracy theories, I probably shouldn't believe that sort of stuff.

Blitzkrieg1701, July 7th, 2019, 2:16 pm

I don't think the English language has words that properly express just how much I enjoy seeing people theorize about these comics, especially when the results are so much better than anything I would have come up with. (It's one of the reasons I try to avoid spoilers down here, I don't want to spoil anyone's fun)

...although I DO need to confess that "Perfectly Generic Cube" is actually a Homestuck reference rather than anything of my own invention.

Darius Drake (Guest), July 7th, 2019, 6:31 pm

@ Ed8: All of that's wrong... except for the fact that they're both made out of the same factory by MegaChemCo, Inc. It was just cheaper for them to have outsiders mass produce it, and MegaChemCo gave the most competitive rates. MegaChemCo is also completely unrelated to either of the lawsuits.

@ Blitz on Perfectly Generic Cube: So what if it's a Homestuck Reference? Does that mean that the Far Out There version can't have randomized nutritional value regardless of flavor? Also, I completely forgot about Perfectly Generic Objects, and the fact that they're typically cubish. Also, Perfectly Generic Objects weren't edible, and Perfectly Generic Cube's are in food court vending machines, so they're obviously different things.

Ed8, July 7th, 2019, 6:36 pm

Everybody is in on the Conspiracy but Me
@Darius - I did say it was just a Space-Internet conspiracy theory. They're usually wrong. But that never stops them from spreading like wildfire.
(Or, a conspiracy theorist would just say that denying it proves that Darius is part of the conspiracy!!)

Darius Drake (Guest), July 9th, 2019, 3:21 am

@ Ed8: Not at all. Honestly, what I'm confused about is why they aren't attempting to sue MegaChemCo over it. After all, if anyone had easy access to the production information of their competitor and had the ability to use it to their advantage, it was MegaChemCo.
