No spoilers in suggesting that "emotional restraint" is probably something May has been told she needs to work on a LOT.

Not a whole lot else to say about this page, which I feel kind of bad about, seeing as how the past week or two has had the most vibrant discussions in the comments for a while now. I feel like I'm not keeping up my end of the bargain by just saying "I got the page done before noon, that's neat." ...but it IS neat, dang it! Clearly, I need to doing pages with three panels or less.

Also, there's the latest TWC Voting Incentive to talk about as well. Plus, it's another new month, with means all the TWC Bonus Incentives have reset again. Unfortunately, with all the other stuff I was doing this month, I wasn't able to whip up any new art, so I'll understand if nobody feels like clicking through everything to see the same stuff as last month (ESPECIALLY since, by the time everyone reads this, the window of time before most users reinstate THEIR art has long since passed). Still, if you actually do feel like it, the bump in visibility will be much appreciated. Even more so, in this case!

If you don't have things to talk about, I'll bring some things up.

I don't think "That was livid at the sight of me" works that way. "*He* was livid," maybe.

On a related note, "I need to doing pages [...]" in your author's comment doesn't quite work, either.

link to vote twc in author comments is broken, has an extra " at the end of it. sure, we could just click the normal link icon, but in the interests of nitpicking completeness it has to be pointed out.

Ichabod is offended at being called a "That".

@Incentive - Mom has to be kept in a deep underground isolation facility?! That's kind of...disturbing. She's radioactive? She's become an eldritch horror that drives people insane upon sight? Something even worse?!?!
Or, the ironic ending...Tabitha battles her way through multiple layers of monsters, security bots, deathtraps, etc. to reach her mom...who is just a normal person working in a normal little home office (normal for a mad scientist), who just *really really* doesn't like to be disturbed while working.

Blitzkrieg1701, October 1st, 2019, 2:29 pm

Link is fixed, and typo shall be fixed in just a little bit (I started to write "that guy was" then changed gears to "he was" but didn't quite navigate the turn)

Darius Drake (Guest), October 1st, 2019, 3:42 pm

@ Ed8 on Tabitha's Mom's Isolation Facility: I suspect that it's either for her protection from Mad Science Experiements, or she's running the place. FOT Logic doesn't permit a person being visited in an Isolation Facility to be anywhere near as big a deal as it seems.

Ed8, October 1st, 2019, 4:34 pm

"FOT Logic"... isn't that one of those oxymorons, like "Political Ethics"? :)

Darius Drake (Guest), October 1st, 2019, 6:45 pm

@ Ed8: Not really, and it only applies to things that happen on panel, and not to backstory and cutaway things. So "FOT Logic" is basically the way that Blitz is willing to take FOT Story Beats. Cutaway Gags, Universe Background Information and the like is not included in FOT Logic, because it isn't a part of the main storyline.

An easily identifiable example of FOT Logic is the ship that brought the Nitpicker Trio here. We knew it wasn't going to blow up on the way to the ship, because things like that don't happen to notable characters in this comic. Now that everything relevant to the ship getting the Nitpickers here is done with, however, the ship could transition back into Warp Space and get besieged by Temporal Raiders from a Higher Dimension who are attempting to utilize the same Warp Space to extend their lifespans by entering a slower temporal environment (a place where time move slower), and are hoping to utilize the ship from our universe to enter our universe. The raid ends with the ship detonating, with only one to half-a-dozen known survivors (including the Captain) who we end up meeting seven years of comics down the track, and are incapable of communicating back with their home because of the price of... Cheetos's ir something, required to power their communication device/s.

In relation to the Voting Incentive itself, a major character's mother being locked in the family Isolation Facility for no apparent reason fits this better than the same person being locked there due to having some health issue that they don't want to spread. Hell, it's also possible that she has the inherent ability to deactivate Mad Science based Insanity temporarily when in close contact, only for it to reactivate, stronger, a week or so later.

I think that's a lot looser definition of "logic" than what I'm accustomed to....

Darius Drake (Guest), October 1st, 2019, 9:21 pm

@ Ed8: It's Blitz's Logic when applied to planning out events in FOT. Not the Logic applicable in the FOT Universe. I'm not sure how you see it as looser than some politician's "logic".

Ed8, October 1st, 2019, 11:19 pm

I never said that politicians were logical. I used the example of the phrase "political ethics" as an example of an oxymoron, a contradictory phrase. Nothing was said about them being logical. (nor ethical, for that matter, since I was pointing out that it was contradiction)

Darius Drake (Guest), October 1st, 2019, 11:39 pm

@ Ed8: What I was saying is that my FOT Logic Standard has a stronger groundwork than the Logic some politicians use to rationalize their stance on something. And that's something that humans run into in varying degrees regularly, and so I dispute your claim of my use of the world "Logic" being looser than what you have regularly encountered elsewhere.

I avoided your comment on "political ethics" entirely, because while it's true for 90%+ of Politicians, the 10%- remaining do uphold some ethical standards based on social morals. And, when it comes to politicians, we have, as a society, mostly acclimatized to the fact that they do not follow ethical standards based on social morals, and thus apply a different set of ethics to them. So "Political Ethics" isn't an oxymoron, so much as it is a promise of a politician to support their party and try to empower it's power-base, regardless of consequences (so long as said consequences can be spun to be their opposition's fault).

Blitzkrieg1701, October 2nd, 2019, 2:38 pm

"FOT Logic" is what happens when someone writes an If/Then conditional statement but leaves every single antecedent and consequent blank because he want to be able to come back and recton things without anyone noticing.

Darius Drake (Guest), October 2nd, 2019, 6:05 pm

@ Blitz: It does include that, yes. But it also includes the rule "Major Characters will not be maimed, physically tortured, or killed in the course of a story-line", among a few others.

Ed8, October 3rd, 2019, 12:11 pm

false alarm
*deleted comment that was here before*
i don't know why i thought it was november this month, but apparently there is now this thing called "october" that comes between september and november. who knew?
next month, though....

Blitzkrieg1701, October 3rd, 2019, 9:39 pm

I've heard of this "October" you speak of. I think it's what they used to call Halloween Month before the International Pumpkin Corporation took over all thirty-one days (like when Santa bought December)

Ed8, October 3rd, 2019, 10:12 pm

obligatory grumpy old man complaint
seems like lately santa's leasing most of november from the turkey as well.

Ed8, October 3rd, 2019, 10:14 pm

actually, seeing as how christmas season now officially begins the day after halloween, shouldn't you really be doing TWO months of daily strips?
*evil grin*

Blitzkrieg1701, October 3rd, 2019, 11:02 pm

Oh, that's nothing. I just saw my first Christmas product of the year at the store. EARLY TODAY.

Darius Drake (Guest), October 3rd, 2019, 11:18 pm

Turkey? What is that? It sounds kind of like a beast that only Americans truly care about. And what does this theoretical beast have to do with November? This is odd.

(Note: Sarcastically pretending to not know about Thanksgiving, something that I believe is only celebrated in the US & Canada, and is done in Canada some weeks before it's done in the US).
